A.M.A. Convention report
Went to the A.M.A. Convention this Friday morning. It is substantially larger overall, with more vendors, but looks smaller. If you plan on taking a look at all what the vendors have displayed, figure on spending a good two hours going up and down the aisles, long as you don't talk or look too long at any one place. The booths for many of the vendors are about the same size as for the older Pasadena A.M.A. Conventions. The only other thing noticable is that the vendors did not include as much "glitz" as in the past. Vendors such as Great Planes is a bit more modest, as is Polk's Hobbies, and SIG.
However, Grand Wing Servo has a substantial spread this year, as does Futaba.

I thought it was a darn good show! came home with lots of goodies! and got the LOOK when i came through the door, thought I was going to have to sleep in my shop!
Hell of a lot better than the RCX show.
I thought it was great , the guys doing the flight demos breaking the rules at a AMA Convention
or is it double standards

THose flite demos were great!Good place to pick up lot of thelittle stuff that need and in a city like Yuma with no hobby shop has to all be done over the internet.First time to anything like this well worth going. Will find different hotel thought that doubletree for $100 and not even a comlimentary breakfast isn't my idea but was alone and unfamiliar with area took the easy way and stayed there.Maybe bigger swap meet next time I like them too! Will go again!!

MOODIER:
Nuts. Could have told you to stay in someplace in Fontana, which is about 10 minutes to the east on I-10. Rates there are 1/2 of that around the airport.
Got several PM's but my thought was although BIG, it did not have the glitz of prevous shows. Felt much as if it was being held in some hangar at the airport due to no carpeting.
Nothing wrong with the vendors, other than they seemed talkative and often you had to wait 5-10 minutes before something could be answered. Also was as many mom & pop vendors selling trinkets with A.M.A. mispelled.
Best part was, this year did not seem to be so many fat ladies towing around a couple of six years olds and hogging up the aisles.

RE: A.M.A. Convention report
I was so busy looking at all the stuff, talking and buying some items. I didn't notice there wasn't a carpet.
I was hoping the show would be bigger and more display planes. Saw the dawn patrol WW1 plans. They looked great. Have been following there progress in High Flight.
I had a great time. Learned all about Sirius chargers and bought one. Spinner from Dave Brown, the list goes on. But I only bought what I needed, sort of.
