Default Dave Brown accepts nomination

From Dr. Sandy Frank, posted on the D VIII list:

Hello, District-8-List,
this is just in...

.................................................. .................................................. ...........................................

I have decided to accept the nomination for another term as President.

This was a difficult decision, as I have the utmost respect for the others who have been nominated, and I pledge to run a clean, positive, campaign.

Should I be defeated in this election, I pledge my wholehearted support to the winner, and my continued support of the AMA.

Dave Brown
AMA President

You're kidding, right?
For starters look up discussions on Rule 9, new turbine regs, captive corporations. That'll provide you with some interesting reading.
He doesn't want to let anyone elese's ideas interfere with his, therefore he continues to keep a grip on the power levers.
And, as J_R has correctly pointed out, the way the membership votes, he'll win as long as he keeps running for office.
Oh well, 3 more years of Dave's "nightmares" and dreaming up all sorts of negative things that could happen, no matter how slight the chance. SOMEDAY he's got to let go, then we can get some fresh ideas. I'm 60, I should live so long.
I'm voting for Dave Mathewson, he would do a great job. But.......
And, IMHO, he's not done with the turbine community or the 3-d guys.
Brg,
Jon

Voting for Tony Stillman in Distric 5 but haven't decided about Dave Brown. What at first seemed unreasonable after listening to the turbine croud shouting seemed reasonable after digging in and listining to Daves explaination. Who is running against Dave?

That doesn't even make sense.

So...when he decides not run again...it's because he has NO respect for the others running?

I think you need to read the word "as" as "because"

There probably should have been a ; after "nominated"

I was reading the "as" as "because".

Let's try it that way, "This was a difficult decision, because I have the utmost respect for the others who have been nominated, and I pledge to run a clean, positive, campaign."

Adding a ; after nominated wouldn't make any difference since there is the word and.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter as far as this thread goes. It just seemed "odd".

LOL - where have you been, that you don't know the answer to that ?

What I want to know is this - which of the other candidates has the greatest chance of unseating DB ? If I can find that out, then I really don't care who he is, the guy gets my vote.

Don't stick your head in the sand.

Each of the individuals nominated has his own vision. You may find one you really like... or one or more that you would like less than Dave Brown.

A simple question for you.

WHY?

Just because he is your DVP? What do you know about him?

With the charisma and intelligence these canidates have, I'd say I'd relate it to the 2hr kind of epoxy.

Re the vision ...how do you know that whatever vision any of these guys espouses in his campaign blurbs is in any way related to what he will actually do once in office ? As far as I'm concerned, it's probably all a crapshoot.

As for finding one that I like less than Dave ... that's technically possible, but probably quite unlikely, so I personally am willing to take that chance at least for a few years. If nothing else, the act of kicking the incumbent out because of his past actions may at least send a message to the next new president that the membership should be listened to, not just dictated to.

J_R, AH-ha just as I thought, a speed reader. By the way mind reading is relatively simple. And everything is relative.
Nite nite.

Hey Stalspin,

I flunked Mind Reading 101 and since you think it is easy, maybe you can give us some pointers.

p.s. What is wrong with a good bit of science fiction? Some of the stuff I read about when in the 7th grade is REAL today. Wonder how long some of the stuff I read about today will take to be real. . .
