Guess my new AMA number!
Upon signing up for an AMA event at the field and glancing at the roster I noticed a friend had an unusual AMA number, "MERLIN". I found out that there is a Vanity Number program where you can choose an alphanumeric eight character AMA number. There is no info on the website but an e-mail was answered the same day with an application.
So $25 later and an extra $10 a year I got me a new AMA number that will be really easy for me to remember and will undoubtedly be a conversation starter for years to come.
Anyone wanna take a shot at what my new "number" will be?

Thought about doing that at one time. IIRC, it is up to 8 characters, not limited to. However, my choice -- N4Q2 -- was not allowed for some reason.

Mine is AD9V. Easier to remember--especially helpful at senior moments.

RE: Guess my new AMA number!
The new number is "BASINBUM" of course (unless someone already has it but I seriously doubt it). I'd use my HAM call sign but I sometimes have a brain fart and can't remember that either.
I'll have to make a new frequency pin for the board and order some new vinyl transfers for my wings, I'm sure I'll get a lot of ribbing from my friends at the field.

RE: Guess my new AMA number!
You know what Vic....I never pronounced it out loud like that , I think your mind is in the gutter my friend. It is kinda funny now that you point it out but nobody has ever mentioned it at the field either and it is on my frequency flag. There are so few guys under 60 with HAM tickets flying 6 meters at our field that nobody ever looks at that part of the board I guess and all the older guys fly in the A.M. and I fly in the P.M. so that might explain it.
Then again Cagey Six Whiffer pales in comparison to the fun to be had with my real name so I guess nobody would bother. The ribbing for having "BASINBUM" on my flag and or planes would be from the infamous notoriety I have received from the Sepulveda Basin thread and some of my more poignant posts.
Sincerely, Richard Dragin

RE: Guess my new AMA number!
The program has been around for at least 12 years, I have AMA cards from 93 with YNOT as my AMA number.
At first, I was always called up to registration to show my AMA card, becasue they thought I was just being difficult by putting YNOT in the AMA number line at sign up.
