Default Orientation Flights

What's the AMA policy for allowing non-AMA members have orientation flights?

IIRC, the restrictions are:
  • One flight only per person
  • Must be on a buddy box
  • The person on the master box must be a specially deignated "into pilot". (Additional fees apply for anyone holding an intro pilot designation)

... but the above is all from memory, so you may want to check the AMA docs to be absolutely sure.

Everything else is correct, but AMA does not state that the buddy-box is necessary, only recommended.

Take care,

Any AMA member can give one orientation flight per non AMA person.
The Introductory Pilot, designated by and for one specific Club, may at that club's facility instruct a non-AMA person for up to 30 consecutive days, provided the paperwork and records are properly kept. Contact AMA for the Intro pilot program.

Wow - I sure got that one wrong !! Thanks for the info Horrace. I looked up the AMA docs, and sure enough - there was the info about 30 days.
