Welcome to the AMA, you can't find an adult hobby much less expensive. Price a round of golf, price membership to a hunting club, price an offshore fishing trip. Modeling gives you a year round all weather hobby regardless of where you actually live. Weather to bad to fly, build, maintain, fix, enhance your work shop. Or hang out here and discuss models and modeling.

Great,
I heard the some AMA pilots put brushless motors in the Skypilots EP planes for more power.

Brusless motors will liven up just about any model that had a brushed motor. They can dent your pocket book a bit, but are worth every penny if you want performance.

Take your question over to All Forums >> Electric Aircraft Universe >> E-Flight Power Sources . Lots of expertise there to answer your question.

Just kidding, Avistar 2. A so-called affinity program with a producer of DVDs was launched a year or so ago as an AMA fund raiser; didn't click real well with the members. Something of the sort now in the works with Harris Connect. Nothing released yet on what the product is (they publish alumni directories, etc.), so a better answer as to what else you will get from AMA is..........surprise!

No kidding: Glad you have decided to join our sport (and hobby). It's had a hold on me for several decades, and the fascination with things that fly just doesn't go away.

It will not be long Avistar 2 before you also get those tremendous AMA credit card offers, so you may go to the hobby store and buy incredible amounts of hobby gear, and of course pay for a long, long time. Happy flying and welcome to the fabulous AMA benefits package!!!!!!!!!

You should check out some good profile planes, they fly the best. I know one in particular that is just down right awesome, cheap too!

STL is probably talking about the Radical 330 by Goldberg. It has a nice wide fuse profile and thick wings for predicable 3D training...I am sure STL would recommend that you stay away from them shinny sided fuse planes with thin wings.

Here is the link http://www.lanierrc.com/lrcprivate/r...es/radical.htm
