JUST A QUICK MEANINGLESS POLL
Gosh NO Not meaningless, Jim. Right now I see 9 responses with 1 "No". One of our fine news media types could work a week on that item beginning with, "Eleven percent of US Citizens have renounced their connection to a major Recreational Association with World-Wide ties. Stay tuned for more information concerning this disastrous revelation, but now we must take a break for late incoming news right after these words from our sponsors."

NO WAY. We have had so many problems in and over the club and the AMA, the members want to shut down an entire airfeild because the ama suggests their runway be 400x 200 or some crap then they mesure it at 375 x 215...... AHHH it isnt spec...

My personal experiance is that the AMA has made my flying experiance LESS fun..... and clubs are a joke....

sorry ,2.4 rouge pilot here/

I've been lobbying with both Horrace and Red for them to maintain their memberships.

I predict that 99% of the current members will or already have renewed for 2009 and I bet im correct.

You should start a thread about your club that wants to close a field because it isn't exactly up to AMA recommendations! Those are just recommendations not requirements. If we applied that thinking to every RC field, would be very few fields left. Those guys need to get a life!

I've got to have AMA to fly out of a beautiful St. Louis County park as it is written into the county statute. If I was not required to, I'd probably just get a $1 million liability umbrella that covered quite a bit more BUT the cost on that is $175 a year. Overall I don't see any drawbacks to being an AMA member. Any bad seems more than outdone by the good........

Sure, I renewed as soon as I got the renawal in the mail. I received the new card this Saturday. Lost it Sunday morning and found it Sunday evening.

Why, and yes I'm lobbing one up, would you not renew?

My comment was very tongue in cheek and I believe that your's was as well.

If we get to the point that we're actually hoping that others drop out of AMA then I think we're taking all this stuff MUCH too seriously.

Well, I have a theory on that:
PPP are supposed to upgrade, not renew PPP for life.
Why they have no Youth, no Senior, no Lifer nor Affilliate.
~ Welcome to PPP, now get out

And in other news:
I will not be rewnewing my PPP,
but instead returning to Open because PPP is... you know... Bad.
I have gathered my First Hand Knowlege of ppp, so I no longer need to expose myself to it.

Guys!!!!!!!!!!! I am sorry I have provided the arena for another insult swapping contest-I wanted to use the term "trading wits" but that would not be true most of the time.

Unfortunately, this seems to be happening more and more here lately. Not sure why. Maybe it's the cold weather approaching? I thought this hobby was supposed to be about having fun and sharing a camaraderie in the love of the hobby.

Guess I was wrong.

Not really "wrong" Frank. Fun and camaraderie are the #1 items in most nonprofessional sports. I can so easily get all bent out of shape when so many use your "thought" as an excuse for being lazy, unproductive, and generally don't contribute to the needs of their club, their group or aeromodeling overall. Unfortunately there are many in that group. yet when we all get together those bends fairly well straighten up. [8D]

OTOH there are so many that do work and never get credit for all that work that contributes to everyone else's fun. Then that too passes away.
Brother IKE pretty well demolished 12 years of member labor at the prestigious Jetero RC Club field. Yet, a previously scheduled Night Fly-In for this past Sat PM went on as scheduled. The crowd was down, the food was less than normal, but those there with no shelter between the ground and the stars did a lot of good night-flying. Even my trusty once-a-year old Bridi RCM Trainer 60 all decked out in glo-wire fired right up and flew fine for a number of flights. Lots of fun seemed to prevail and seeing those that had not been seen in sometime provided a lot of, "....fun and sharing a camaraderie in the love of the hobby."

So do not be dismayed with what is said and done here. OTOH tomorrow may bring all the dismay one can need for a life time. [X(]

[sm=lol.gif] And it only gets worse TakingFlight. I am always looking at things to do with RC Planes. Even when I am at work I find a way to get to the hobby shop an dthe airfield just to see the planes flying. I swear this has got to be worse than crack, at least crack heads have NA. (Narcotics Anonymous).

Oh back to the point. I voted yes and i am looking into being a life member.

Yeah, I get what your saying. Yeah, even in school I'm sketching up some crazy RC design and makin a list of my dream planes and what not. I soloed at the very end of September and I'am on my 2nd plane (Phoenix Dolphin .40) and when I was little I used to be "daddys girl" and now he calls me his "Speed Demon" Its gotten worse now that I soloed - I'm also a ... "Speed Addict" I LOVE to do aerobatics and go fast ! Anyways what I was trying to get at was... I'm hoping to be in this hobby for awhile longer, I'm not sure if I'd want to be a Life Member but, I'll keep renewing as I keep flying.
