Which magazine do you prefer?
With all of the discussion concerning AMA and new membership, I am curious to know if the AMAis a first pick for those who actually read magazines relative to our hobby. For me, ITISNOT.
What is it for you?
Please let me know what titles I am missing.
Perhaps this poll will serve as a resource for allRC magazines, since thereare many titles not known by everyone.I will add all valid suggestions (playboy not included).

One other magazine, a specialty magazine, that has been around for some time but just recently, last couple years, has become a prime magazine for its subscribers. It is, IMO, really tops and covers the large aircraft spectrum in excellent style. This magazine, High Flight, is produced by the International Miniature Aircraft Association, (IMAA) and is available to IMAA members. The only other SIG magazine that even resembles High Flight is the Precision Aerobatics Model Pilot's Association's (PAMPA) Stunt News.

RE: Which magazine do you prefer?
I have just read about 5 yrs of magazines that I subscribed to for about 4 yrs. Two of these were catalogs for arf plane with same reviews in the same months magazine. MA had a lot more to read about model aviation and planes people were flying from free flight to giant scale. I read each of these magazines from cover to cover 2 to 3 times. one did put out free plans several times a year which are goo but need to recoopy to right size

29% prefer Model Aviation. Almost all AMA members are familiar with Model Aviation. I have to say I am not familiar with most of the magazines listed. Control Line World magazine was not listed.

You forgot RC JET INTERNATIONAL and CONTRAILS.
I'll go out on a limb and state that FLYING MODELS is a must read for those that are model builders as opposed to those that don't know which end of a glue tube to use.
There are those that can build and fly, and then there are those that just fly. This hobby is large enough for both.

Personal opinion! I prefer the mags that are written for model aviation enthusiasts. To me, that means those that address the model builder. Over the years, I have been an avid reader of mags like Air Trails and it's sucsessors, Flying Models, Model Builder, Aviation Modeler International, RCM&W, Scale RC modeler, Model Aviation, and others that had an emphasis building and all aspects of model aviation, including CL and FF. I used to like MAN, started loosing interest when it went to an all-rc format, and now that it seems to be becoming an ARF/RTF catalog, probably will not renew when my current subscription early next year.

MAN is the least useful, MA a close second.
FM is still kinda good.
The AMA rag started slipping badly 10 years ago. They used to offer discount memberships that got only the Competition newsletter. If that was available now, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Most MA issues these days just get a 10 second skim, and tossed in a corner.

This is the dynamic as I see it,,
When you are new to the hobby everything is great, all that information is so useful and educational. It's like going to the trade shows for the first couple times,, Wow look at all that stuff you've never seen before!! After a few years you've read most of the How-tos and tips, but every once in a while something new shows up in there you haven't read so you keep going hoping for more.. Fast forward to 10-15 years into the hobby and you've pretty much seen and read it all. So unless there are articles or reports on what your really interested in there's just not much to hold your attention. I mean really, How many reviews of ARFs can one man stand??
That's pretty much where I'm at with any of them after 35+ year in the hobby,, It's not really the Mags, they haven't changed much, it's the reader's sense of needing/wanting the mags
