Flying Field-Wichita

I live in Wichita, Kansas. I am 13 and went ot Finley's Hobbies and few weeks ago. I told them that I wanted to get into r/c planes. They told me of a good trainer and told me that a good place to go fly would be Lake Afton. I am getting my plane this weekend and I can't wait. I am wondering if anybody else goes here and if it is nice. Thank you.

Unless someone here is familiar with the club, you are going to need a little more information. You can go to the club locator at http://www.ama-dist-8.org/Clubs/Locator.html and input your zip code and find clubs in your area, but, you will need the name of the club. Maybe the hobby shop can supply that. The locator has club contacts and genearally a telephone number. Call the contact. You probably need an AMA membership to fly there. If you do, it costs you $1 for a basic junior membership, but, will take a couple of weeks to get. Applications are on the AMA website at http://www.modelaircraft.org/default.asp . The contact should also be able to give you directions to the field.

Use the club finder that JR lsited as their are three clubs in Wichita.

Try one of these links [link=http://www.flywrcc.org/]Wichita Radio Control[/link] This club has four fields all around the city.

Welcome to the hobby Freakyfrog. Although I live a few hours from Wichita, I frequent Finley's a bit and flown at Lake Afton a few times. A great bunch of people and a very active club (the February auction is huge). I hope they can help you get flying.
