Tom its ok, He is right you know! It is my fault that all my kids left home that and the fact they were all in thier 20's and married! I from now on not going to say anything bad about people wasting there money for ugly electric foam planes! I meen I should be happy that far less balsa tree's have to be cut down, And the one's that are will be for guys like you and I Tom! We get the pick of the litter. I am however concered about the beer cooler shortage this may cause but thats for another time another thread! If folks want to spend there hard earned dollars on foam then who am I to say anything bad about it! Its still kind of a free country! You foam guys lets do one another a favor, You raise balsa tree's in your yard and I wont throw away any foam cups or plates! The foam I recycle just may end up as one of your ugly electric plane's

I cant believe we spend our hard earned dollars on sticks and glue.
We all love the hobby and the friends it brings, that's good enough me.

Saw right through me! Devels advocate! Love to fly with anyone do not care what they fly! Our club president flys nothing but foam! Foam is not for me but anybody that flys is alright in my book! I really enjoy being around other flyers, Its one of the reasons I keep going back to War-birds over the Rockies!

As long as we are asking them to stop, perhaps those people who assemble arf's will stop calling it "building a model". If you want to fly them , fine but please use the correct term for them.

You are right, most of us consider it "building a kit" and "assembling an ARF". But nobbies don't know any better at first.
Now that I think about it, anyone that comes out to the field and calls their ARF a "kit", should be burned at the stake. And we can part out their car/truck on Craigslist and put the money toward more sticks and glue!!
Hey, maybe you guys were on to something.... this Narcissistic superiority thing is sorta fun..... LOL!!

RE: Please, dear God, make them stop!
Not a fan of the foam planes. Have seen them fly, they look pretty good.
I am a fan of profile foamies as in 3D type made from 3 and 6mm depron foam. Quit counting at 70! The original shock flyers were a favorite for quite a while. I learned to hover, harrier, blendor, elevators, inverted and upright, loooooow knife edge passes, knife edge death drop, rolling circles. Can't really beat them for learning, cheap and expendable.
Having said that I do have 30, 50 and 111cc gas airplanes that I really love to fly. All have smoke and are really fun.
I have scratch built a couple of small nitro racers in the last couple of years for local Club Racing. Camas, WA.
Really like the new EF1 racers also. Have a Pogo and am scratch building a Proud Bird. Here is a link to the build on this forum.

Capt, Just got home from work, I will head right up there, I seen a wreck up there coming in and heard it was from a kid running on the highway, sure hope it was not the grand daughter because she is not home yet! But I paid a buck for the mittens so she needs to find them! and if she caused the accident she is looking at a spanking! What size engine does the plane take!

I fly glow and eletric , and the little foamys are just some added fun .This is a tweeked FMS 55" P47 , added the flaps , new paint , scratch build the interior and retractable tail wheel with doors . It features eflight new retracts as well , working on servo driven retractable canopy .
These make nice deversions from my glow warbirds because the wing loading is so so light that you cant stall them no matter how hard you try .
You will get about 7 min of flight on one pack , virtually any newbe can fly these as a second plane

FMS p40 , again just for a diversion , I added eletric rotating retracts , split the flaps , build a small scratch build interior , moved the pilot back , mixed and match paint for non matching plastic parts ,and added some quick weathering , and make my won axils , again , if want a non-stress warbird , this plane flys like a trainer , nice change from my Pica 1/6 p40

Funny I felt the same way , but ...... `the epo is great stuff to work with , it will fill easily , its more dorable then balsa , and very light . Its actually very diffilcut to sand because of its strength .
I think the foamy serve a purpose , 1)there great to tinker or just warm up before you fly your uch more expensive investment 2)When you just want to rush and cant make it to the rcclub , you can get to a local park or safe parking lot open area ect and just fly ..
Now this is the best part , we are always wineing about not enought youth , no kids ect in this hobby .
So like most of you , your shop probably has enought junk in it to build three planes . So my brother in law has a 5 year old and he has love me because i have all the toys lol .
So we are working on a simple blue foam piper cub , nice and free . Using some small servos , and some left over batterys , motor ect and the kid is building it with me everytime he comes over . Why blue foam vs balsa , I want the kid to have a really durable simple fun flyinng plane . So again foam is what you make of it .

Capt, Just keep some fresh water out there and to make your point stick, Do not let her in till the frost bite bites! Mother sat down in the snow up on 80 waiting for the three part epoxy so I snuck up behind her and hit her with a cattle prod! That sure got her back on her crippled old feet! Well back to building if you got time to prod got time to build!

How many of you guys are now flying foamies? I have a bunch of go fast foamies that are a blast. They are great for winter flying. Just charge up the batteries in my warm home and go fly them. I messing with liquid fuel or flipping props to get them started. It's great.

I still am but now even more advanced , I am getting a Brian Taylor 82" Corsair cut in foam , will cover and glass to hide my secret from the non accpeting crowd but the light wing loading and excellant flying tendenacys may give it away lol .
I dont post my pics on RCU , the system is too slow and difficult so I post my buuld threads on other RC sites . I now have a 79" P40 , 66" corsair , FW190 , 66" P51 so my fleet is growing and I will sell my heavier birds some new in box ?)
