.46 Greatplanes Christen Eagle GP/EP
I'm not a big posted here in the ARF section but I'm kinda excited about the upcoming May release of the Greatplanes Christen Eagle GP/EP ARF. I've wanted a little bipe in my hanger for some time and I'm sure this'll fit in just nicely.

Here's the manual... it's a .46-.55 size

Looks good,I already placed it on the back order list & Tower. Wish it was a little bigger, it looks to be about the same size as the EZ Christian Eagle from years ago, that I have ready to fly.Paul

Hey Jimmy
How's the BH Pitts doing? I have one also. I have the EZ Christian Eagle from about 15 years ago. Just got it ready to fly,it is approximately the same size as the GP Eagle. I knew right when I saw the GP Eagle I'd have to get one.

The Pitts sits.
I have to work my way up to flying that one. Ive assembled the tail and bolted on the wings but thats all.
Im still debateing on the engine, probably a Satio 125.

I'm very curious to see how the GP Eagle compares to the EZ Eagle. The EZ Eagle has about the same wingspan, but about 50 sq. in. more wing area. The EZ Eagle uses only one standard servo to drive the lower ailerons, upper are slaved via a pushrod. I'm hoping to maiden the EZ Eagle this spring, need to get some practice for the GP Eagle. I'm pretty sure the GP Eagle will out perform the EZ Eagle due to the conventional construction vs. the foam construction from early ARFS. I really like the way the wing struts lock into the wings, much easier than bolting everything together. [:'(]

I received my Eagle. Looks to be well built, typical GP quality. I would say the wing area is slightly more than the EZ ARF. I wonder if the published specs. are wrong concerning wing area. I plan on using an OS 45 AX, it will be more than enough engine for this plane.

I saw it weeks ago and added it to my wish list, but the price is a bit high for me considering the size. One of my favorite Bipes anyway...

RE: .46 Greatplanes Christen Eagle GP/EP
Finally received my Eagle. The model is very well constructed, but the cowl and wheel pants are quite thin. In fact my cowl was damaged during packaging and now I have to wait until Tower Hobbies sends me a new one. If the fibreglass was thicker I would have given this model a 9/10 for construction, but now I'd rate it as a 8/10. I'll post some pics of the build when I get some free time next week.

I agree the fiberglass parts do feel a little thin. It seems to be the trend lately. I have the BH Pitts and the cowl and wheel pants are thin on that also.It wouldn't be that hard to add a layer of glass cloth to reinforce the cowl while assembling the planes. Seems like the kit prices are going up, but the quality isn't keeping up with it. I'm still very happy with the GP Eagle, makes a good addition to the 1/3 scale Eagle I have waiting to build.

Could some body that has this plane measure the WIDTH or chord of both wings?
I find it really hard to believe the total wing area is only 441sq in.......
Thanks,
Mike

Mike
The chord on both the upper and lower wing is 7 1/2'', upper wing span 42'' lower wing span 40''. I have the EZ Christian Eagle, it is only slightly smaller in the chord 6 3/4'', the wingspan is the same on both models. The specs say 500 sq. in. for the EZ Eagle, so I think the wing area is larger than stated on the GP Eagle

RE: .46 Greatplanes Christen Eagle GP/EP
Thanks for the info Handyman,
Lets see, by your measurements, the top wing is 42x7.5= 315sq. The bottom wing is 40x7.5=300sq. So, 315+300=615sq.
Even accounting for the fact that the top wing is swept which should add to that total, and the rounded wing tips and center cut out which subtract from the total, its safe to say the area is definitely more than the 441 stated.
Thats good because 441sq on a .72 four stoke size bird makes for a bloated tank to fly.
Mike
