Default Biplane for OS 91 Four Stroke

Looking for WWI or Golden Age Bipe (like Waco UPF-7) for OS 91 Four Stroke...Any suggestion?

Dont think there are too many Classic Scale Bipes in that engine size. The good ones, I know of atleast, are the Skybolt and the Reactor Bipe. Larger bipes have the scale looks you are looking for

Although it's not a WWI or Golden Age bipe a Sig Hog Biplane is a good choice. Had one with a .91 and it flew great. ACF

I think I may try to sell some stuff and go for the GP Waco Bipe...should be able to go from the 91 to a 120 without too much out of pocket. Anyone wanna trade a 120 for a 91?

If you are a builder............look at some of the Balsa USA offerings............they have some great golden age stuff.

The GP Waco is FABULOUS! I have one with a DLE-30, but it's really way more power than it needs. If you're buying an engine, a DLE-20 will be perfect for it

I don't have a place to build right now...even an arf will be a space challenge. Minn...I saw the GP Waco thread...thats what got me to thinking. I always wanted the Byron UPF-7 but of course there aren't any around. I think the GP and DLE 20 looks good for now. Its on my list!

Ditto.

The best plane/engine combo i ever had and i kick myself often for selling it in a moment of weakness.
I'm seriously thinking of getting another one.

Dang it! The Waco is my first choice but the Hangar 9 suggestion would be much easier on the wallet in the short run...and its just what I asked for...Thanks for the suggestion

The H-9 Sopwith is probably not what you want. I reviewed that plane and, while it is very good, it also flies very scale-like.

For refference, WWI planes flew like Kites.

For one thing, the Camel will fly well with a 70, a 90 is way more than it needs.

For another, it is good for putting around the sky, but you have to remember that in those days they didn't know a lot about airplane design, so they planes were difficult to control. And it has so much wing that the slightest amount of throttle will translate into LOTS of altitude, not a lot of speed.

So the Sopwith Camel is a good choice if you are a fan of WWI planes and how they fly, but not a good choice for a fun biplane.

Ok..advice taken...back to the waco...I sure do like the price of the DL20 and seems like a great entre into gas, but isn't that waco kit kinda pricey?

It is, but it's also outstanding in construction and flight characteristics

Yes my H9 camel is way over powered, but it's not a bad flyer. the biggest problem I have is the nose over after landing.
No it's not as sporty as the waco
But if your an intermedate flyer you will have no problem.

You may also look at GP's super stearman

A couple of years ago a guy brought a Phaeton 90 to a float fly I attended. He had an OS 91 four stroke on it and it flew very well off water. I'm sure it would be nice with wheels as well. A gentle flyer that looked great in the air.
