Default How about a Saito 62 on a Big Stik 40?

Well I allready have it mounted and ran 4 tanks of fuel.

It moves allot of air with a 12x8.

Is this enough power for sport flying?

1st flight sunday weather permiting. I did have a 46AX on it.

Horizon claims the 62 "Turns an APC 13 x 6 prop at 9900 rpm" so it should have plenty of power for this plane.

I think Horizon does there testing on 30% Nitro, but I had a Sato 72 on my 40 and it was great!! I think the 62 would fit just fine.

I run a Saito .62 on my Big Stick 40 and it's a fine combination.

APC 12x6 gives plenty of thrust for any manoeuvres and has great vertical.

I like the 11x8 for a bit more speed but it doesn't have the almost unlimited vertical of the 12x6

I found a Bolly 11.5x7 in my prop bucket so next time out i'm going to test it and i think it will be an ideal combination of thrust and speed for my type of flying.

I bought this eng when window shopping on the internet whenIwasa bit
saused.

I woke up the next day and I was wondering if it was gonna be enough power.

From your reply's it should work fine.

This was pulled up on Horizons web site, but it looks like they were just refering to what the employees are using in there stuff.

Our staff commonly uses 30% heli fuel in Saito engines, as it not only gives better top-end performance but it runs smoother, gives a better transition, and runs cooler.

In flight the FA-100 was one smooth operator. Transition and idle were clean and crisp with instantaneous response. No dead sticks occurred in the first six test flights, despite purposefully long high-altitude idles, followed by rapid full-throttle transitions. The 30% helicopter fuel gave a noticeable boost in power, plus the added oil in the fuel adds a nice trail of smoke.
