Jeff, I cant tell very well but did you place the fuel tank on the cg? from the pic above, it looks a bit forward. also on the throttle servo, would it be possable to mount it on the engine box on top? What about a smoke tank? can one be shoehorned in? Ive not started on my yak 54 yet till i see how this build goes. Getting a few good ideas so far.

The fuel tank is in the spot where they recommend, it's just in front of the CG. Maybe a 1/4 of the tank is over the CG leaving 3/4 in front of the CG. It's so close to the CG you would never feel the change of a lower fuel level.
The throttle servo could go anywhere you can make room, you can see there is lots of room to install it on the top of the motor box. The smoke tank will be a tight fit but I think it could be done. If it's the same size as the fuel tank it should sit right next to it. We are using the tank that came with the plane. Flight time should be anywhere from 15 - 20 min easy, if not more.

Well we are finished and should get the rest of the photos posted today. The prop that we will be using is the Biela 17x10 3-blade. We wanted to test it for the DLE-30 to be able to help our customers when they call asking how they perform. Also we installed a Miracle RC 1.75" Super Light Spinner.

For the Receiver and Ignition we used the TBM Ultra Power Li-Ion 2600 packs. www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/AH2CDLIION.html we have two for the receiver and one for the ignition. The weight of each battery is only 3.7 oz and keeping them to the front of the plane helped with the CG, we only added 8 oz to get the plane to balance.
To use two batteries for the receiver we used awww.troybuiltmodels.com/items/MPIRM6N.htmlthat way if one battery fails we still have another and wont lose the plane. I use them on all my planes.
And for the regulator on the ignition awww.troybuiltmodels.com/items/QRI.html very light like 1 oz
We should have a flying video up soon.

By installing the servos in the tail area did you have to add additional weight to balance the plane. I ask, because I 'm wondering if that's a weighted True Turn prop hub you have mounted on the front of the Yak?

We did have to add 8oz to get the correct CG but the spinner weight is only 2oz with the screw. It was not used for the weight, we thought it looked cool. www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/MRCSP1.75.html

Yes you are correct on the crossed cables, to keep the geometry correct.
Sorry for the delay in the flight video, we have so much going on trying to get new videos on every new plane we've just gotten in (opening the box videos). We've been getting reports from the customers that have tried the Biela 3-blade 17x10 prop and all say works great! We will give some rpm numbers when we go out to fly, we did however start the engine at the shop to make sure we would be ready and were very surprised at how quiet it sounded. Cannot wait to get in the air.

RE: TBM Goldwing RC YAK55M 30cc ARF Build
Finaly finished!!, except for applying the decals...to which I may not do. I used pretty much all of the supplied hardware except for the hinges for the elevator and rudder. I used Robarts instead, also I used a Sullivan tailwheel because I like a bit of springiness there. I fly from a grass runway and a bit of flex is needed. CG was spot-on!!! I am using 2 NIMH battery packs, 1650ma, 4.8 for ignition and 1650ma, 6 volt for receiver and located them in front of the fuel tank.
I hope to maiden her today as I got the engine tuned-in yesterday...or close anyway. I'm leaving it sorta rich for the first few flights, so I will just have to listen to the mid-range "burble" for a while.
The pics are not very good...had a lot of glare from the bright sunshine.

Thats the exact same model I got . Im really liking it. Is there any way you could get a picture or 2 under the hatch? id really like to see how you set everything up. Especially the throttle servo. I'm having a terrable time trying to decide just how to go about doing that set up with the rear carb and the choke set up.

I have had my Yak54 flying for a couple of weeks all seems to be great . I have run 3/4 of a gal of gas through the engine and it is now working well. I used one elevator and I did not need any wight in the in front of the CG. whats up with crossing the cables for the rudder,I did not cross them and all seems to be working well.

RE: TBM Goldwing RC YAK55M 30cc ARF Build
I finally got to maiden mine this morning...we had zero wind and no rain, [8D] so I took advantage of that early. I zeroed all control surfaces out and I found that I had to put in two clicks of aileron trim, but then I took one back out. The plane is very responsive to say the least and it will practically fly itself off the ground.
You guys that are flying this ship with a DLE 30 engine...would you mind telling me what your final carb adjustment screw settings are...I still have a little mid-range "burble" in mine...very irritating to listen to.
TPerk...The crossing of the rudder cables will give you the correct geometry that is needed, but I have seen them setup just like you did yours with no problems at all...so IMO it doesn't really matter. It just seems to be a standard procedure, but look at your cables when you put in full left or right on the rudder to see if you have a lot of slack in one cable.

RE: TBM Goldwing RC YAK55M 30cc ARF Build
There are 3 versions for GoldWing planes!
V1:
Is NO Carbon Fiber ANYTHING!
V2:
Carbon Fiber Landing Gear
V3:
Carbon Fiber Landing Gear, Wing Tubes, and Tailwheel
Other than that they are all the same build. Now some of the models were made for the Side carb of the 30cc... I think mmost of those models are long gone.
So getting a V1? You are getting metal Everything.
V2?? You are getting carbon Fiber Landing gear.. Metal wing tubes and tail wheel.
V3?? You are getting carbon Fiber Landing gear, Wing tubes, and tail wheel.

RE: TBM Goldwing RC YAK55M 30cc ARF Build
that is the way mine is also cf wingtube and tailwheel. Al landing gear. the landing gear is my only major concern on this plane. It is real flexable. But if it bends ill just straighten it till i can get some cf gear. I also beefed up the wing saddle are with some balsa sheeting. Iflywhenican what prop did you end up using?

gjhinshaw...Mine has version "A" and "B" on the box and version A is checked, so I am assuming that it means V1
Irglnman...I am running a Xoar 18x8 prop for now, but I will probably switch to a 19x8 or 10 after a bit of running-in of the engine.
