RC Guys new Piper PA-28 Cherokee
Has anyone got the new RC Guys Piper PA-28 Cherokee yet ?
Got mine 2 weeks ago, been flying it, much satisfied with it.
Just want to know someone else opinions about this new model

Its a good looking plane. The instructions are a little weak but they could buff that up pretty easy as they only offer them online.
Not a big fan of ZBends on a 50cc gasser and the elevator linkage should be changed before ever flying it IMO. If you're going to use the recommended DLE-55 then you need to relocate the blind nuts for the main landing gear before you build the firewall.
Internal flap linkages are a nice touch. Carbon wing and stab tubes. PLENTY of room to build a scale cabin. Flys like a big baby, with the flaps down the ailerons will quit working before it stalls. Nose oleo strut is very nicely done. Nose wheel linkage wasn't documented well but it was pretty easy to work out how to do it.

PROBLEMS
Loved the plane great flying plane... crashed due to tail stabilizer tube breaking in two pieces. Thought it was carbon fiber wood filled tube, but don't think so now... very clean break... right in the center of the shaft... structural break. The plane is a total loss.
We are wondering if anyone else has lost the plane due to the same issue. pictures of failure below.

Yes there is a problem with the nose gear... we had to custom machine a longer strut to make it work.. had to add about 2 inches to the length...
With standard strut, the plane sits very nose low and is hard to take off and has prop clearance issues... fixed with longer strut but don't drill central longitudinal hole... not needed and weakens.

I hate to hear that-nice looking plane and I know one that is hanging in the LHS. Is there any ground clearance issues on nose gear vs prop size-thanks

The stab joiner is a carbon tube with about 2" of wood dowel inserted to prevent the carbon from collapsing when you install that bolt "control horn" for the elevator.
I'm surprised it failed, the crappy linkage I can see, or failing at the bolt hole I can see, but what you have there surprises me.
Yea, they said you have to move the nose wheel if you're using the recomended engine <eye roll> if thats the recommended engine it should be drilled for that and if you're using something different you can move it up <shrug>
I haven't seen the review plane at the field since I sold it, I'm told he was converting it to electric.
