Default Pilot RC Yak 54 26% with DLE-30 installation question

I've been interested in learning 3D and precision flight for a bit and have decided to bite the bullet and pick up a proper platform for it. After reading many forum threads and talking to several folks at the club, I've decided on a Yak in the 30cc class.

I'm planning on purchasing the Pilot RC 26% Yak 54 with the DLE-30, but I've heard that the new version of the DLE-30 (not sure exactly how new the version is at this point, honestly) with the rear-carb setup presents installation difficulties. Does anyone know if this is still the case, or is it only a problem that presented itself several years ago and has since been corrected? If possible, I'd rather not hack up the firewall and modify the mounts.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but I am specifically wondering about the Pilot RC Yak 54. I know there were issues when the new DLE 30 configuration was released, and I was just wondering if Pilot RC has altered their firewall setup to compensate.

I had the pilot yak 26%, I got it second hand and it was a couple of years old, it had the firewall set so it would take a side carb dle 30 BUT it had a rear carb dle 30 fitted. 30 mm stand offs and a bit drilling through the firewall makes this posssible.

I do believe the newer pilot yak models have now been updated to take a rear carb dle, maybe somone else could confirm this.

Go to Pilot RC's web site and download the manual, or call Donnie or Brett at Cheif Aircraft and ask them. I'm pretty sure the new kits are designed to handle the rear carb though.

Thanks guys - I've actually changed my direction and purchased a Redwing 30cc MXSR with a DLE30. I appreciate the help!

I just might do that - it's only a few hours' drive from here... Our field hosted a Huckfest stop this year - it was pretty cool.
