I have an OS 160 twin Twin in my BUSA 1/4 Scale Cub and I absolutely love it . It sounds so cool purring along It is easy to tune and seems to hold its tune . It really suits a cub. I also have a ASP 160 in a Rascal and I have a real hard time tuning it but if I get it to run right its got lots of power and sounds cool too . I have them both on glow drivers that automatically come on at low throttle . I think the one on the ASP might not be working right . I am tempted to take that motor out and replace it with a DLE 30 . I would sooner fly than mess around at the field trying to get something to run right . Jeep what did you do to your 160 to get it to run right ? Have you got it on a glow driver ?

I tuned mine by closing the barrel on the carb until it was open about the width of a pin, which is a good low idle setting. Then I hooked a piece of clean fuel tubing onto the fuel fitting, put the other end in my mouth, and closed the low speed needle while blowing air through that fuel tubing. Once I could no longer move air through the tubing I opened the low speed needle again until air just began to move. Hooked up fuel, started it up, and adjusted the high speed needle til it ran like a champ. Periodically I repeat this process when it starts running a little rough, say every two to three months, and it runs like new again. Valve clearances are still right in spec, and although it's a slimy engine that puts out almost as much oil from the exhaust as engine noise, it pulls great, starts on the first flip (I'll get a video to prove it!) and looks really cool in the Super Cub's cowl. I'm running an ElectroDynamics onboard glow system, but I've flown without onboard glow lots of times without dropping a cylinder. It's all about tuning.

Thought I would post this in a couple H9 Super Cub threads. I have the PNP version of the cub but decided to go with another engine. The Evolution 33gx is for sale. I can throw in the pre cut cowl for $20, mostly to cover shipping. Check out my ad on RCG.

Getting there... revision #1 is soon-to-be machined as a mold, from which to make skis. Progress updates as available.
There are intended to be very heavily based on the GLH-3000 skis, for reference to the design.

I am putting a VVRC40 twin in a new PA18 and I am also installing a Rcexl kill switch . Could somebody tell me how to hook it all up . I have forgotten how ..I know the plug wires go to the plugs . The tach wire I don't need to worry about . Where does the black wire go? How does the kill switch hook in ? Any help will bne apreciated . Strokes really suck .

Battery > Mechanical switch > Optical Kill > Ignition power connector (I think its red)
3 wire male on the optical goes to the receiver aux channel you're using.
There's also a black male from the hall sensor that goes to a black female on the ignition (pretty sure its marked)

I just fired up my VVRC 40 twin today in my H9 SuperCub and WOW!!!! With that 20 inch break in prop it pulls like a train! I am going to have to use some smaller props so I can land and taxi. I like to scale fly, so I kinda over did it with this engine. I could pull some big gliders with this thing. Some of you are using this engine; what prop are you using?

Don,t want to take the cowl off again to measure it, but the vvrc twin with the small plugs fits without any mods except for the exhaust cutouts. All you would have to do would be to compate the widths of the two engines from the specs to decide I think. The vvrc with the cm-6 plugs would probably have to have the cowl sides cutout, same with the dle.

I can understand not wanting to take the cowl off. Just thought maybe someone had one off, or had the measurments.
The DLE 40 is 9.05 inches wide with plugs
The VVRC is 7 7/8 (1/4-32 plugs) and 8 1/2 for the CM6 plug version. Which version do you have installed? Is there any room at all (like can I reasonably expect to fit the DLE with only the plug caps sticking out?

Ya, I am just going to have to be patient and wait for the VVRC to come back in stock. I'd rather have it fit like a glove than have a chopped up cowl.
Thanks fellas. I appreciate the info.
