RE: Seagull Model Cessna 337 ARF
Thanks Sonny! I've read the thread, lots of good info! The Red Bull is extremely nice and is the reason I'm excited about this model. I'll try posting a pic of the re-do that I'd like to tackle.

RE: Seagull Model Cessna 337 ARF
Hi Guys, just started my build of my 337, got both engines fitted 2 x ASP52 four strokes, have got the throttles hooked up, now for the fuel tanks, what did you all do for the elevator? I was going to use two servos one for each side, Paul/ farfar

Hi Paul (aka farfar),
Welcome to the thread!!
For now I went with the one elevator servo setup, but I am thinking very hard of going with the two servo setup for the elevator. I will make my mind up after the maiden flight and see how it fly with the one servo set up. If you do go with the two servo setup for the elevator, please post pictures on how you did it!!
Thanks and again welcome to the thread!!!

Hi sonny, thinking about a servo for each side of the elevator just in case one fails, I will know more when I have a closer look at it, will finish the engine tank installations first,

To those that have this kit, what are the diameters of the wheels? Need both the nose and the mains. I'm on the hunt for wheel pants. Thanks!

Good to see this thread alive again! I'm anxious to see pics of the setup in an E version, so please post as you make progress. Free Bird, glad you are going to change the scheme up a bit. We loved this plane before, but are very happy with the result of the new scheme. I also posted a few pics of the Cessna 182 ARF pants alongside in an earlier post. They seem to match up pretty well and can be bought separately through most any hobby shop. Also, we are going with the dual elevator servo setup for the added piece of mind. Only three weeks away from our static show and only have the outer wing panels left to paint the fade this weekend. It's shaping up nicely and will post more pics when the project is complete.

Herc,
I've been through the thread and must have missed the post on the wheel pants. The GP C-182 pants look like they'll work, that's why I was asking about the size of the supplied wheels. To use the nose pant though, the gear leg would have to be changed. Could you provide more detail on how you massaged the rear cowl to make it fit better? Awesome job you guys are doing, looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Thanks FB!
For the rear cowl, we just took out the material shown in the pic below. Since only about an 1/8" was removed from the material at the back where the spinner back-plate rests, it's barely noticeable. Toward the front, we slowly took out material about a 1/16" at a time. Make sure you keep test fitting until you are satisfied with the fit. This ended up being about 1/4" total at the fuse. The halves were tack glued back together with medium CA and then we epoxied a fiberglass strip on the inside along the seam for reinforcement. Then all that's left to do is prime and finish!

Hey Adam;
Good luck on your show and I hope your 337 turn heads!! I can not wait to see the finish pictures. Did you go with a 2 or 3 blades prop?? What I can see in your last picture, the prop look good!!!

Thanks, Sonny. The three blade props in the picture are strictly show props. They have a lot of paint on them and are a few inches too big for our engines, but are pretty close to scale so we went with them for the show. We will probably change out the spinners and props to fly it and go with APC two blade.

Adam thanks for the rear cowl picture. I am almost finished with assembling my 337 and decided I am going to go back and modify the rear cowl it just doesn't look good as it is. Also Mark thanks for the idea about mounting the receiver in the center section. At the moment I still have a bunch of spaghetti hanging down in the rear of the cockpit, any ideas of how to hide/route these wires? There are still a bunch no matter where the receiver lives.
I have tried to post photos with no luck, and I searched RCU trying to find insight for posting photos. I tried using "image" and no luck so I would appreciate any advice.
Just a warning about the rear landing gear axles supplied in the kit: the threads strip if you try to tighten the nuts securely. I recycled some Du-bro axles from a plane that no longer needs me and so far so good.

Good point about the axles. We went with Dubro as well. It's a shame that some of these companies don't spend a little more time choosing quality hardware for their planes instead of wasting money on hardware that will never be used. They would get a much better reputation and more respect from the modeling community if they did. I've seen many planes lost due to bad hardware and a new pilot not knowing any better. *Sigh* ...but I digress.
Where are you running into issues posting your photos? If you use the image tag, you have to have your photos hosted on an external site like photobucket, etc. I just use the "click here to upload images and files" link at the bottom of the box you are replying in. Once you click it, there will be a little pop-up window where you can browse and select your pics. Once you do this, make sure you scroll down in that window and click OK and wait for the confirmation that the upload was successful. This can take a few minutes. Then click OK and you should be good to go. PM me if that doesn't work. We want to see your Skymaster!

Hi Guys,
For the people who have the clear wing tip lens and want to have the red and green nav light without having to go the red and green light blub change. Take a look at the photo of what I did. I just use a red and green marker to do the job!! They came out good. In a dark place you do get the red and green tint when the lights are on.

Here is my attempt at uploading photos. The tip light covers from RadioShack, the dual elevator horns, the stand-offs which came with the kit next to the replacements they sent and the second hatch pin. Sorry for the low quality phone pics.

Mark;
Smart move on the second hatch pin!! I did the same on my 337. I just did not like the stock set-up!! The tip lights look good!! One quick question, what size motor is in the picture?? Please keep the build up dates coming, because the next C-337 will be e-power!!
Thanks for the info!!

RE: Seagull Model Cessna 337 ARF
HI all. I'm glad I found this thread (great information on here). I just purchased the 337 and I'm going the electric conversion route: (2) .45 Rimfire Outrunner brushless motors (800 kv ea.), and (2) E-flite 60-Amp ESC's. Any onehave any suggestions on the bricks to power this bird? Should I just go with the manufacturers reccomendation? Thanks.

RE: Seagull Model Cessna 337 ARF
Mark,
Looking good my friend. They sure were way off on those stand offs. Hopefully someone from Seagull will take notice of this thread and make the changes we suggested. Where did you get your second elevator control horn? We only received one with our kit. We were going to cut out another, but for it to operate smoothly, we realize the geometry has to be just right. We were throwing around the idea of ordering another hardware pack, but seems a bit overkill for one horn.
zoomzoom,
Welcome! Glad you stopped in and welcome to RCU. Looks like there are three of us in Ohio now with this bird. Maybe we will run into each other at a fly-in sometime this summer. Be sure to keep us updated on your build.
Looks like we all went different routes on the lights. We used colored LED's for ours. With all of these builds going on, there's bound to be some flight video showing up sometime soon!

Zoomzoom,
I used Cheetah 28-20-06 motors. I'm new to electrics so I can't help you with choices.
Herc Pilot,
Horizon sent a hardware pack when I called about my missing parts. Send me your address (in a PM). If there is an extra short horn I'll mail it to you.

RE: Seagull Model Cessna 337 ARF
Adam,
Thanks for the photo tips, I will try to get some pictures up soon.
I removed the rear cowl and made the first cut to section it into top/bottom portions. Imagine my surprize when I discovered the top half still does not fit properly to the fuse. It is too wide! You didn't happen to make another cut along the top/bottom to resolve this problem, did you? I was not planning on re-painting the cowl but I am going to pause to consider whether to cut this beast into four sections and get it to adapt properly.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll take pics and post them when I start to build. There are not a lot of forums out there on this model. I'm glad I found this one. Cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it. If there is anyone in here doing the electricconversion for this model, I would appreciate any info on the battery setup you are using (or thinking of using). Cheers!!!
