RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Hey Jimbo,
Your Nemesis is looking great. If those cheek cowls were just a hair wider, you would be home free. Just looking at the last picture and wonder if you've considered putting a screen over the hole to keep crap oiut of your carb. It might not be a bad idea. Regarding your spinner, I think if you're going to use a carbon fiber prop then a carbon spinner would look better, but if you're going to use a plastic prop, then a nice shiny Tru Turn would look best JMHO.
Take care,
David

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Need thoughts on the headers, it has me scratching my head...
I got some flex pipe to mock it up to take to the welder and have them made.. I will take some pics after dinner to show you all my ideas...
Is there a certainlength I should be striving for? I have thought about just turning them straight towards the top of theheads and exiting bellow the caps and a little back, they would be short about 3" each.. I could cut them flush to the cheeks, it would be super loud for sure... Wife is yelling to come eat, I know better then to keep here waiting...lol More on this later..

You know something Jimbo,
All work and no play makes for miserable RC pilot, but I certainly understand. You gotta do what you gotta do. So, when are you going to get off that crazy work schedule and get back to what REALLY counts?....................
Take care,
David

I am new to gassers on R/C models but used to race Biplanes at Reno so we tuned the exhausts for a certain length for an rpm goal. That big, long prop with shallow pitch doesn't seem like it's much for speed, is this an acro airplane more than a speed/racing model? What are most guys looking for with this model? The long gear says acro to me.
Looks like a good flyer by that video, good looking model but not very scale to Nemesis (the horizontal is huge, probably why it flies so well).

Chris,
I here ya on the stab, it's huge, almost 33". That's crazy big for a 80" ws, but it should track real well. The big stab is one of the reasons I decided to go with the twin...
I'm setting mine up for speed, but I am sure she will do areos just fine.. I breaking in mine with a 22x12, then it's getting the APC AT6 racing prop, what a neat looking prop.. Pics don't do it justice at all, it's pretty dang crazy and will no doubt slice fingers right off.. Here are some pics, enjoy..

Hello again very nice progress I have a total.solution. for the exaust I'm planning to cut the original muffler tubes and install a 15mm silicon tube extensions so the cowling will fit no problem I will post the pictures as soon as I recive all the parts anyway for braking in I'm planning to fly it without the cowling for a while for better ventilation and easy tunne up. I'm also using some extra modifications like the carbon landing gear and 32mm carbon main spare tube pics coming soon :-) Happy landings.

hello yes is big prop but is the recomended for brake in this engine as u said it looks big but the thing is to don't pass the 9500 rpm limit on this particular engine so maybe later go for a 22x12 belive me I have some other racers and pitch 10 is fast arround 160mph on a stock engine with aprox 8000 rpm, because of the big prop I have to make some prop clearence so I chose to change the original main landing gear, obviously not even close to any scale model but I hope will be fun to fly :-)

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Yes prop clearance is close with the stock gear and wheels, I changed mine to 4.5" wheels and I am glad I did.. Long as they keep the grass short at the field, I will be fine with a 22"...lol The APC AT6 racing prop is a 20x15, so I won't have any issues with it... I just had to put the wings on to see how she is looking, pics don't do this plane justice.. I can't wait to fly this plane, should be a blast.....
Capt,
Where did you get the CF landing gear for yours, I been thinking about changing mine to save on weight and maybe get a little more room for the prop...

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
I took the plane to my fabrication guy for the headers yesterday and decided to just go with straight headers down, they will exit the bottom of the cheeks and be pretty dang small in length.. If they end up needing to be longer, we will curve them backand exit the bottom just in front of the motor box.. I will do my maiden and break in with the stock muffs and no cowl, that way I can have some numbers togo off of when I change over to just headers...
Ups man will be here tomorrow with my spinner, SmartFly power expander, clunk formy water bottle gas tank and afuel dot.. That's all I am waiting on, the maidenshould happen this weekend...
I will post up some pics of her ready to go tomorrow and a vid after the maiden.........
