Hi RED !!!
Add one more to my Hanger.
I bought a DP EDGE 540 here off RCU a few weeks ago. The thing is already built , I just have to add a engine.

I did sell my Extra 300XS w/o the OS 1.60 to a guy who wanted one for Christmas. So I will try the OS 1.60 in the DP Edge 540. I you have any thoughts about the DP Edge 540 you want to share, send me a PM.

Default RE: RE: How Many Airplanes Do You Have In Your Hangar?

Well... I have to say that I felt a little intimated reading about all these monster hangers. I live in a dimunitive 500 square foot shack (that happens to be on the 22 floor of a high rise) and a supra so all my planes have to fit in both at one time or another. At least that's my excuse. :-)

Anyway this is my list

Ready to fly
WM Zen 50 w/TH.75 APC 12x8
WM Piper Cub w/O.S.

In need of minor repair
CMP Baby Cap232 w/OS.32sx APC 11x5

In need of slightly more repair
CMP Cessna Skylane w/ASP.61 APC 11x7

In need of wing
WM Ramber 30 w/Y.S.FZ63 APC 12x6 (Ran out of gas and landed perfectly except didn't see that friggin rebar sticking out in the middle of the field... shredded the right wing to bits)

RIP
40 size china trainer that I converted to canard then immediately to a pile of tiny pieces of balsa upon first take off... can I say.. CG was WAY off
WM Cap 232 - could've repaired it but didn't like the way it looked anyway... gave it away after ripping off the landing gear in the bushes after a deadstick immediately after take off and bank left. I have no clue as to why that happened except that I must have forgotten to do the vert test... now I do it religiously.
VEKO F3A - amazing crash... ruined by trusty 46FX that had powered all my planes up until this one (the two above in the RIP section) and lost all but 1 servo. rx was in peices... i was happy to be able to recover the crystal! rudder failed on a knife edge too close to terra firma and it plowed nearly full throttle into the hardened dirt. Made a dent the in the ground 2 inches deep. Nothing... I mean nothing larger than a quarter was left of the front half of the fuse.

yes yes... I have excuses for all my crashes but none... I mean none were pilot error... i swear! :-p

Well, having just gotten started in this hobby about four months ago, I guess maybe I'm a bit ahead of the power curve on number of planes...I've got three right now, although, only one is flyable right now...my first trainer (LT-40) is pretty much scrap, except for the wing, my WM T-34 is still being built, but my Kyosho Calmato is ready and able...what a blast to fly!

None of you can 'beat' this ... hehehehe ...

1. GP Lancair
2. EZ Zero 45
3. Black Horse Sukhoi 40
4. Global Raven 40
5. Phoenix FunStar 40
6. Black Horse Bravo 60
7. Phoenix Scanner
8. Modeltech Magic Extra
9. Zagi

What you got to beat is I am a newbie and only No. 7 and 9 are flying ... guess being single has its advantages! I just love planes and I get a kick to see them fly, even if its a mere slow low pass. I will not be able to fly most of the planes I own yet ... but I enjoy seeing them.

tIANci - I hear you. I've been in the hobby since April of last year after a long layoff from a short stint in the early nineties. I'm single too and what I do with my fun $$ is up to me. I'd much rather spend it on my hobbies/sports rather than expensive restaurants/vacations/clothes etc. NTTAWT, but I just like my toys.

You got a lot of 40 sized planes like me... Once we get into the bigger stuff beware. I'm getting into the 60-1.20 sized stuff now and I can only shudder to think of going to gas someday. Then... turbines.

And I may have you beat. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's definitely an expensive thing.

Well ... I started out in the 80's as a teen and then stopped for like 20 years, only got back to it 3 weeks ago. I was shocked to see the prices have gone down and that its all about ARF now, from Vietnam too! I am loving every minute of flying again, I got back to taking off and landing again after about 10 flights, my fingers were shaking!!!

I doubt I will go for the biggies, was most tempted to, one of those 80" or 100" but I realised that I would have to get a bigger car and a bigger apartment, so I doubt it. Its not that expensive to fly, try GP cars ... its like spreading money all over the track each weekend!
