blohollo2;
I will upload pictures of them side by side and give you the number. The bad thing about the Hangar 9 Jackal 50 is that they stop making them after only 1 year on the market!! If you run across one, pick it up!!! There is a thread about the Jackal 50 here on RCU if you want to read more about this prop jet. Its a sweet plane to fly and have in your hangar!!

blohollo2;
Here are the pictures of the H9 Jackal 50 and the F1 Rocket Evo.
Here are the numbers on the Jackal 50:
Wings Span 63.0 in (160cm)
Length 56.0 in (142cm)
Wing Area 690 sq in (44.5 sq dm)
My plane weight is 7.4 lbs.
As you can see, the Jackal 50 look fast just sitting on the ground!!! When I get #1 ready for its maiden flight, I will take both plane to the field and file a flight report on
how they match up. I still think the F1 Rocket Evo is a keeper!!!

Default Maiden Flight Report!!!

Hi All;
Well just return from the field with a good flight report!!! After a few clicks of trim, she was a joy to fly!! For the most part of the maiden flight, I flew at half throttle, but, when I did the first low pass at full throttle. I was shock at the speed!!! The first flight was with a 11x8 two blade prop and the plane rock!! Did not have a gun to get her speed, but it is quick. For landing this plane do not like to slow down!! The first landing was dead stick in a 5 knots head wind and she still landed hot!!! In the air, the plane goes where you point it and the controls are sweet. She will do tight turn when you ask it. On take off use rudder and wait for the tail to come up. The plane will let you know when it is ready to fly. Touch the up elevator and she is off the ground and picking up speed. The OS 55AX is more than enough engine for this plane and I am happy with this setup. Next weekend I will go with the three blade prop and see how she like that setup.
Over all, this plane is a keeper and can be a hand full to new pilots who are not use to speed bird.
Like I said before, I am happy with it and I will buy one more, just to have a back up!!

Great report! I had to open then cowl vents to get more cooling on the engine head as my 65ax was over heating and cutting off in mid flight! how fast do you think you will get this plane to go and with what size 3 blade prop?

I forgot to add in my last post that I did have to drop 1.3oz in the tail to get the CG as per the manual. So the maiden flight was a tad on the nose heavy side!! If the weather is as good as what we had this weekend, will be a okay!!!
One of our club member has a son who is a local cop and he love to play with the radar gun. I hope he can come out next weekend to give us some number.. Some time this week, I will pull the engine out of the plane and put it back on the engine test stand and see what rpm I am getting turning a Master Screw 12x6 3 blades prop. I will post the rpm reading.
Stay tune!!!

Default Master Screw 11x8" 3 Blade Prop!

blhollo2;
Here are the number on the M/S 11x8" 3 blade prop.
Fuel 15% Cool Power Heli-Mix
Glow Plug OS #3 plug
Top End RPM 10,600
Low End RPM 1,900
O.A.T. 71 degs
The OS 55AX had no problem turning the 3 blade. I may have to pick up one more and set it up with a 3 blade!!
In my sick mind, I am thinking of getting another Great Planes F1 Rocket and putting a Evo 60nx with a JETT Blue Pipe, in the nose, but, I think that will be a over kill!!
Hope the weather is good for this weekend so I can see how this plane like the 3 blade prop!!!

according to my static thrust calculator its putting out 6.28 pounds of thrust with that prop and should be flying at 80.3mph on that 3 blade prop...I always heard that a 3 blade wont give you the speed a 2 blade prop does but will have more thrust! My 65ax has a 11x8 prop on it and it rips

Has anyone had any quality control issues building.. or is it just me... I've had to replace 3 of the blind nuts for the gear because they were stripped.. and the canopy came with one of the locking tabs broken and sitting in the canopy.... it was all fixable stuff.. just frustrating..

ChriCYWG;
It sound like you got one that slip through quality control. No problem with my bird!! Just pack it in the SUV for a day of flying at my club field. I want to find out how the plane fly with the 1.3oz of weight I put in the tail. Last week she was a tad nose heavy. I will post my flight report of today flights.

Hi All;
Well I had a beautiful day flying the F1 Rocket Evo and I will say, this is a keeper. I could not get any speed number today. Sorry!! I did play with the 2 and 3 blade prop and, ( to me ), its look like the 2 blade is better than 3, as far as pulling it through the air. The 3 blade do get it to slow down for landing. As for the 1.3oz that I put in the tail, the plane flew better than the maiden flight of last week. In the air, the plane is a joy to fly and will turn tight, but. it have one draw back, if you turn to tight, she will try to tuck a wing on you!! As for stalls, they are tame. If you go with the OS 55ax and a pit-style muffler, you will like the out come. If anyone went electric on this bird, please post your flight report!!
I will have to pick up two more before Great Plane stop making them.
I hope this flight report help anyone to make up their minds on buying one of there baby!!
Have a great weekend of flying everyone!!

ChriCYWG;
I am using a 11x8 Master Screw prop. On the test stand the 55AX is turning it right around 10.8 to 10.9 on the rpm gun. Today I was gong to try a 11x6 prop, but today is a wash. It is raining!!!
Hope this help!!

Just wondering which Pitts muffler you used? I just ordered a Bisson 4046 which tower and other vendors recommend, then I saw Bisson makes a 4055?? I've been reading, and can't get a definite answer on which is the better choice???

Totally agree with you jet22b today Realise the first flights with my new F1Rocket and left very satisfied with their behavior, and very stable takeoffs and landings fully maneuverable, professional appearance.

This plane seems to be a rarity, not much happening in discussion boards here or at rcgroups. I've got a OS Surpass II .70FS in it. Started with an 11*7*3 then switched to a 13*8 recently. Fastest plane I have and I'm still getting used to it, slowly exploring what it can do. Only have about 10 flights on it. Was going to add some pics but it seems they are all on my other PC, will add them later if anyone cares.

I'm just getting BACK into flying after a few years off, Glad I kept all my stuff lol. Loving the looks of this plane, right when I got out of the hobby a got my first few flights on my GP Revolver and it's a great bird, this one looks very similar, wondering if it's just a revised version to make another great flying speed plane. wings look identicle in the pics snyway. Does anyone have both for a comparison?

I have heard they are pretty similar. I think the Rocket is built a little heavier and is more a pattern/speed plane than an aerobat, though in one of the official GP videos they show it doing some pretty strong aerobatics with a wicked roll rate. I fly mine mostly on tame rates still. Big wide fast turns. Weighs 6.12lbs dry. I am starting to learn that I can slow it down a lot for landing, really flies stable slow, just gotta give it time to slow down. I was having issues with coming in too hot, bouncing, and nosing over. The last time it nosed completely over on the runway, it actually cracked a glue joint in the tail fin, had to remove the fin's covering to find the break. It was just a split in the glue joint between the fin's leading edge and the base. Squirted some thin CA in and shored it up, just re covered with white ultracote... doesn't look TOO mismatched. Could have done a better job but I didn't want to remove the rudder.
Also have picked up hangar rash in various places, wood seems very soft in some places like around the turtle deck and wing sheeting.. Great flying plane though!
