Spinner adapter came and mounted the spinner last night. Also, on the Evo 33, instead of trying to get my index finger in the cowl to activate the choke, added a choke rod that extends through the bottom of the cowl. Mounted the seats last night, so we're getting closer to maiden flight time.

Yes, very neat photos. Big-brother and little brother!!

Until I find a good LED lighting package (any ideas lads?), I used some #00 X 1/2" phillips screws to hold on the landing light covers...makes them easily removeable for installing lights later.

Planejaw, I would send Ulrich @ unilight.at an email. he has a specific set for the beaver. I used the weaker 4W lights in mine. There is an 8W version for the landing lights that will blow your retina out.

PM cublover. He found some great lights that are really bright that run off of a 11.1V lipo. I think he got them at Autozone in the accessories section.

I am running the recommended Evolution 33GX and even hat very rich setting it has absolute ample power to fly the plane with authority. Loops from level flight are not a problem.

The G38 might be too tall. If you dont mind cutting the cowl the NGH GF38 might be a nice 4 Stroke alternative.

The VVRC 40cc twin fits inside the cowl.

I thought everyone knew about these: http://www.electrodynam.com/store/ED...9-Beaver.shtml I put this in mine and the guys at the field go NUTS every time I fly it.

Had my maiden flight last week. Noted that at the recommended CG position, there was quite a bit of "up" elevator trim needed for level flight...even more than would be expected with a full tank of fuel. Has anyone else found the CG to be a little too far forward?

The up elevator trim may, or may not, have anything to do with the c/g. Did you check the incidence?

Lots of people have used the VVRC 40cc twin in the Hangar 9 30cc Beaver. I'm one of them. It fits inside the cowl without any trimming needed, except for exhaust stacks. They barely protrude outside the cowl. I'm planning on modifying a set of mufflers two make a 2-into-1 header and have it exit at the scale location. That's a Winter project. Still too much flying to do this Fall! The VVRC 40 is a perfect match for this airframe. Hauls it off the ground quick, makes very scale short-field takeoffs, and sounds great. It's pretty rumbly at mid-range, which gives it a beastly and powerful sound. I run a 19x10 3-blade semi-scale prop on mine, and get about 7000rpm on the ground, and I live and fly at 5,800' MSL. Perfect prop to claw through our less dense air at this altitude, and not too much blade to decrease performance. If I were flying a 3D airplane I would have to use a different prop. For the scale Beaver, though, it is absolutely perfect. See pics 3 posts up.

6" tires, at least, if you're looking for tundra tires. Beavers usually run a 35" tire, and at ~20% scale this one really needs a 7" meat to be correct. I think it will both fly and look ok with a 6 incher, though!

Did you have to modify the firewall so the engine sets back far enough as to not stick out the cowl 2 inches

No, I just mounted it as far rearward as it would go, just past flush with the false firewall. I had to grind the edges where there would have been interference with the mufflers, but no major modifications. You will have to remove the sides of the black part of the motorbox shroud that protrudes forward from the firewall to accommodate the cylinder heads.
