I might have to invest in that gp rig. Just hate to dish out the cash when one can be made for much less.
Although I'm getting tired of the diy projects.
I've seen some made from pvc too.
Rekit are you measuring 4 1/2 inches from the leading edge root of the wing and then follow that out one inch?
Just making sure i got that right.
Edit, nevermind at 1 inch ut the wing doesn't change much. Doohh. Lol
Thanks

Finally got the plane on a cg balancer.
Maybe I'm overthinking things here.
With the plane at 4 -1/2 inches if i set the plane level and let it go the nose drops all the way down.
Nose heavy right??
The thing is when i can get it sitting on the balancer and get it to stay without dipping fore or aft the plane is sitting with its tail low=tail heavy
What am i missing here??
I'm thinking i need to get it to balance it from when sitting level and the nose drops, therefore making the nose lighter to get it to balance level.
Am i correct?
Going to play around with it tonight after work.

Nope, didn't thought it mattered ,being a midwing.
I got it sitting level this am at 110mm from the leading edge by removing the ignition battery that was mounted on the motorbox.

I finally got to maiden the plane today. And wow it felt good and precise a click or 2 on the ailerons and all is well. C.g. at 4.5" and weight at 10.4lbs 18x8 on the prop will probably swap it out not the pull I was expecting then again was only the second time motor was ran.

Also had an emergency landing. Due to long time between build and final touches I forgot to thread lock the bolts to the exhaust and the standoffs to the fire wall. Motor was hanging out of plane almost and throttle was stuck at half stick luckily I was able to kill ignition and safely bring plane down unharmed. Now it's all ready for a remaiden.

Well, after building this lady I still have not flown her and due to way to many projects I am going to sell her. Some of my build pics are on this thread and as soon as possible I will put a list of the items that were used in the build and determine an asking price. I am located in Azle, Texas and will not try and ship her cause I do not trust the carriers to not damage her so Local Pick Up only.

Sorry to hear your selling it Hitman.
For those still watching, i eneded up fabbing some carbon fiber pushrods for the elevators.
The stock ones were a little too soft for my liking.
Came home to find one bent pretty good. How it happened i have no idea, but it bent back like butter.
I used .157 od .098 id. cut the ends off of the stock rods with about 1 inch no threads with it and it slipped right in. Lol
Also the Miracle rc HD switch, well lets just say i have the older style ones. Ordered me some replacement toggles(yes just the toggle switch) from redwing.
These look to be the new ones.

Finally got to maiden this plane, lol.
Only got to do a couple of laps with it,need to tune the engine.
Ground handling is great, applied power slowly and up it went. The little time i had her up it flew very nice. I'm not sure but i think the engine leaned out, didn't shut down but i felt loss of power. I got ready for a dead stick landing but when i reduced the throttle the engine kept running. The plane just floated in on approach. I had to give it some down elevator to get her to drop ,touched down like a feather even though i almost goofed up when i got distracted. Recovered nicely though,so I'm happy.
This is the largest plane i have flown ,and now i can say the larger planes do fly so much nicer.
Going to try and get somone experienced with tuning the engine.
I couldn't really tell if it leaned out or was too rich in the air. Felt like it went lean but yet i heard it burbling.
I also noticed prior to taken her up I've been having lower top end rpm for some reason. I can only get 7900 rpm on my 17x6 xoar. I was getting 8800. Tried leanig the hs but it doesn't help.
I pulled the sullivan crap trap and noticed i had it installed the wrong way. I didnt see any blockage or debri but it was restricted when i blew into it.
Going to order a new one and see how it does.
I'm hoping that was my issue causing my drop in power at wot.
As others have mentioned she does fly very nice from what i could tell.

Thats good to here your flight went well ive flown mine only a couple times and it does fly really well considering the build issues we've all experienced.. Hope to get it in the air again before it snows. Im glad i made the switch to the 30cc definitely flys plane with authority.

Got 4 flights on the SBach last weekend. Flew it without the cowl and the engine ran great. Its not fast in level flight but vertical uplines are awesome.
On the 4th flight I had to cut it short. I was having throttle issues and landed it quickly,as I touched down the engine quit.
Brought it back to the pits and started her up and noticed the throttle servo seemed to be glitching from interference.
It didnt happen when the engine isn't running.
I rerouted some wires when I got home but I haven't tested it with the engine running yet.
I have a spare servo if need be as well.
All in all I'm very happy with the plane and engine.

I know right.
I was getting myself ready for a deadstick as soon as I heard the erratic throttle.
This plane fly's so nice that I doubt it would have been an issue.
The plane practically lands itself with just a little guidance.

Wow, the longest thread in history. I put the dle35ra in my 2nd one. Still needed 6 oz lead in nose. But, OMG, what a plane. I have never done a maiden where it flew off the boards. Not one clik of anything. I was so pleased. Even inverted-hands off level. Gonna have some fun now. And a big F U to TBM for so little help. No CG advise, no help. This had to be designed as a electric, and took so much work to seal all the holes to make it a gasser. I spent untold hours on this plane, but it is a solid design. Just floats in.

Woops, sorry havent been on much ,busy with other things and a flying.
Im still flying it with the dle 20ra and has plenty of power for me. The guys at the field are impressed with the engine and plane combo.
Had my first dead stick this past weekend, dont think i let her warm up enough and cut out on me while going vertical. This plane just floated on down.
I love flying it.
I went with a couple of lighter servos in the tail for the ele. And mounted a 2s A123 2600 mah on the firewall just below the engine also fabbed up some cf linkage.
Im at around 9.5 lbs.
Anyone else still flying this plane??
Love the gassers,i put together a 10cc engine and plane combo and have a 33cc waiting for a home.=))

Its a rcgf 10 installed in a G.P. Matt Chapman Eagle/cap 580 ,46 size
The plane is close to 7 lbs and the 10cc pulls it along pretty good. Its actually about 13cc.
Maidened the plane about a month ago,had a apc 13x6 prop on it which spun at 9800 rpm new and rich.
The plane flew great did some loops, roll and flew it inverted to check cg .and it just needed some down ele.to keep her level.
I had this big grin on my face until i reduced throttle on the approach, all of a sudden the plane shot straight for the ground with no response to elevator input. Something told me to goose the throttle and the plane pulled up and out. Tried this about 4 times and the same thing. I did the best i could with bringing her in ripping out the L.G. the rudder ripped clean off busted cowl and motor box bent fins on the head busted plug ,holes on the underside covering banged up wheel pants and some dings and scrapes on the wings..
All because of a poor solder joint on a brand new servo that i will never purchase again regarding the brand, and its not a NO name brand either.
Figured it out when i got home and tested the plane ,sure enough no elevator movement until i jiggled the wires then it powered up, jiggled again and off it went.
Took it apart and noticed that the wire from the motor to the board was not connected,it was just laying on top making contact because everything is stuffed in the case pretty tight. Making the servo work on and off.
Soldered it back up myself and works perfect.
Remaidened her this past weekend with the cg set jjut a bit rearward but still in range for shtz and giggles but this time i ordered a 14x6 xoar prop.
Plane flew great again, i brought her up high to prepare myself for some butt clenching, throttled back and she just glided down flew her around some more and then brought her in. Had a great day at the club with great friends.
Not too happy with the servo manufacturer and they take no resposibility for it except to fix the servo at fault.
