Default Hangar 9 Valiant

Anyone else have the Hangar 9 Valiant? I have 6 flights on mine and I love it. Can't wait to get it on floats.

I don't have one but I have been thinking about replacing my Hanger 9 PA18 with one . I dorked my PA18 last fall but I never liked the way it flew . I think it was under powered . I am either going to get another PA18 or possibly a Valiant . How do you like the cantilever plug-in wings ? I found the strut set up on my PA18 was a bit tedious at times . My hands are shaky some days and the little pins are easy to drop and hard to find . Its not bad if you are careful but if there was a system where you didn't need them I would like that better . What are you using for power ? I bought a VVRC 40cc twin from Vally View RC To power my next PA18 if I get one . Could you measure your cowl to see if it would fit inside with out the need to remove to much? It looks like a fairly wide cowl . I don't really like the ca hinges but they do seem to work and its not all that hard to change them .

Which VVRC did you get the 1/4-32 or the CM-6? The 1/4-32 fits like a glove in the cowl. The cantilever wings is great. I don't like messing with the struts myself, I have them on my Carbon Z Cub with the pins and clips and it is a pain.
So far I have about 6 flights on it. The only concerns I have about it so far. The wing tubes in the wings had to be sanded to get the wing tube to slide in without breaking something, and a side door along with the top hatch would have been helpful, so I have my windshield screwed on instead of glued. I have the Dubro 6" tundra tires (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXD770&P=ML) instead of the stock ones, and am using the Dubro Adjustable Control Horn (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD932&P=7) for the ailerons and elevator. Of course I am using the Power HD 1501MG servos(http://www.redwingrc.com/index.php?m...products_id=40) except the throttle. The spinner is a 3 1*2 parabolic Tru Turn. 18X10 3 blade because I'm at 5000'. So far...worth every penny. Got the Hangar 9 floats too, and it already has the blind nuts for them.

I got the 1/4 -32 version of the VVRC. Thanks for the info . I have heard that you need to be very careful changing plugs on the 1/4 -32 version but so far haven't had to change plugs. It has me worried though . I am going to call Vally View and ask for the torque specs

I have mine about the same tightness as I did glow plugs, and no problems with it so far. They are small so I would assume a bit fragile. I did a top hatch mod because fiddling with those little screws is a pain especially in the cold....I added a RedwingRC canopy latch....http://www.redwingrc.com/index.php?m...products_id=71

I like your latch idea . I wonder why Hanger 9 didn't put a top hatch like the one on the PA18 . I put the floats on my Carbon Cub . We have a New Years fun fly every new years day . I like the electrics in the winter and floats work great in the snow . I also have an E flight Beaver and a I Con to fly so it should be a good day . Big bon fire Chili Coco to help keep us warm in the minus 14 weather . Should be good lift though .

Happy New Year everybody . I had a great day flying .. I was amazed at how quickly my Carbon Cub lifted off the snow .. I would say about three feet with 1/2 flaps . Man oh man does that puppy ever have a lot of power. I guess the cold air gave it good lift and gave the prop good bite and the last time I flew it was a hot summer day . I sure noticed the difference ... I also flew my I Con and my Flyzone Beaver . There was a good turnout and nobody crashed . we finally had to give way to the snow. It was getting hard to see . I was almost glad anyway . My toes were freezing . I am getting to old for this stuff . One of the guys lent me a pair of gloves with the fingers tips cut out because I was whining about how I had to land because my hands were to cold . I couldn't stand the gloves on my hands . I felt like I was washing my feet with my socks on sort of . I had to yell for my buddy to come take over for me while I took the gloves off. They were just too heavy . Light ones might have been okay .

Nice video ,thanks for sharing that , Thats a nice flying plane . Do you know your AUW ? I would like to put the articulated gear on it . I have that on my Cubs and it works great . It looks like the stock gear does the job quite well though .

Haven't weighed it, but I would guess about 15lbs without fuel.

I have one and love it. Only issue I have found is both flap servo mounts broke loose within the first two flights. I re-glued and all is good. I checked the aileron servo mounts only to find both loose as well. Added some glue and now good to go. Performance with the Evo33 is excellent.

Just bought one from a friend. All put together and ready to go! Waiting for a new Rx to show up in the next day or so but with the amount of rain we have had in the past several days I would have to wait anyway.........
This plane has a DLE 35 ra for power so should be good in that respect. (I have the same power in my Escapade). I will check the Servo mounts in the wings, good tip!

Friend of mine just got one of these and he's still skittish about flying it so I've put quite a few flights on it and I'm really impressed.

Once I dialed in the right flap compensation this thing just grooves in for a landing. I also got to fly one on floats at Nall and loved it.

I have no problem with the flying part, have faster and hotter planes, this one looks like a "Keeper".

Try it and see, it definitely needs some down with flaps though. I'd start with 10 percent and adjust to suit

You should try the flaps, it lands even slower
