Thanks, here are a couple more of how I did the flying wires. I used a Sullivan kit. The fin is all balsa so I drilled a 3/16" hole and then cut a piece of CF tubing to go through the hole and sit flush with the surface on both sides. This way it wouldn't crush the fin when I tightened down the brackets. The stab has hardwood so all I had to do was drill through it. On the fuselage I just used the two forward screws that hold on the tailwheel. I do a lot of racing around with a friend is why I decided on the wires. I didn't want to risk getting flutter and ripping off the stab.

All completed now. My balance came out at 4.75" without moving or changing anything from how I assembled it so that is the way it will stay. The weight ready to fly less fuel came in a little heavier than I expected at 14 pounds even. Hmmm I may have to put my DA50 in this down the road. I will see how it performs first. To swap engines I could remove the ignition battery and it should come close to balancing with a 50cc. I could always move the main battery back into the rear fuselage behind the servos if needed. The DLE 35 has pretty good power though, far and above what the original 30 had so it should be fine. But if my buddy starts kicking my butt the 50 is going in.

I just checked and my Giant Stick with the DA35 on it is 13 lb 9 oz and it flies fantastic so I am sure this one will be fine at 14 lb.

I t looks great, cant wait to here how the first flight goes. When I rebalanced mine its weight is now 13 lbs 15 oz , virtually the same. It has more then enough power for me, pulling straight up with out end. Not as fast straight and level as I thought it would be. I did find out between the two props I have had on it a 20x8 Top Flight power point and a xoar 20x8, with the xoar it flys with much more authority, seems to have more power with it. Now after saying all that my motor hasn't even gone thru a whole gallon yet, so I expect to gain some as more fuel is run thru it.

I have a Falcon 19x10 on the way for mine. I am going to run a 19x8 for the first few flights to lessen the load on the engine until it loosens up a bit.

My comparison of Xoar vs. Top Flite props is the same. Xoars are simply better.

I have not tried a Falcon prop but I will. Where do you suggest I order one from? I have been satisfied with Xoars for quite a while. I tried Vess and although they are efficient props, they are also very fragile. I occasionally use an APC prop but I don't care much for their looks. I have not tried any carbon fiber props as they cost too much. I will give Falcon a try.

I did a search and it looks like Bob's Hobby Center is as good as any to order from. Just ordered two 17x6 beechwood props. $34.00 shipped. I'll try these out on one of my DLE20 planes. I'll order a 19x8 for the DLE35 if happy with them.

I switched most of my planes over to Falcon over the last few years. Their CF props even out perform Mezjlik and their wood props will out do a Xoar. My friend and I compared a 27x10 Xoar in the air with the same plane and engine to a Falcon 27x10 one day. The difference side by side was shocking. I couldn't believe the difference in vertical pull. I would pull away from my friend with ease. I still run some Xoar laminate props but they are getting hard to find.

Ran my 35 up for the first time in the driveway today after putting in the battery that I was waiting to come in the mail. The needles are set very close to the recommended factory settings. Low idle is at 1600 and high idle set at 1900. Top end with a Falcon 19x8 CF is 7700 with only a couple ounces of fuel through it. It won't be long before I will have to switch to the 19x10 to bring the rpm down a touch.

Well the OS 33 is out, sitting at an angle the Pitts style muffler sticks outside and would require lots of cutting on the cowl. The header and bolts would not clear if mounted verticle as it's on the short side of the firewall.
Valleyview is out of the DLE 35's so a slight delay. Oh well had a ball flying my ultra stick today............

Hey Guys;
On my maiden flight I use a Xoars 19/8 prop and the plane did okay. Did not know what the RPM was, so, I just ran the engine outside of my shop. the on-board and hand held tach read the same, low end was right around 1601 to 1603,
top end was at 7650 rpm. I just found Flacon website and I will try some of their props. All the gas heads in my club use Xoars props.
Hope this weekend will have more good weather so I can have some fun!!

Spotted this Escapade a few months ago and thought it would be a nice addition in my hanger.

Had some Tower gift certificates from Christmas and super saver coupons so it appeared I could pick it up at a reasonable price.

Went to Tower website and discovered another Escapade shipment wont arrive until late July ! Could this be due to the “Slowboat From China” syndrome?

Anywazzz, I got lucky as my local hobby shop had (just) one in stock so I scarfed it up.

Pulled everything from box. No visible damage, but covering is pretty loose so it will require the typical re-ironing and re-shrinking. Hey, I just thought of something.........she’s a female and she’s pretty good at ironing. Oh no, did I really say that !

One thing that jumped out at me was the very limited rudder throw. With the pre-installed hinges it’s only about 2 inches on each side. With my flying style I was thinking more like 4 inches on each side. Still haven’t made up my mind yet about a power plant.
