Great flying plane, I have an OS 65 ax on mine and it has plenty of power, may not rocket ship vertical but she will tractor on up until I kick her over.
An OS 65 is about a 10cc engine. That is way underpowered for a plane that has a recommended 30 to 35cc range. I would think with the OS65 the performance would be very enemic at best.

A DLE 30 is good on the plane. I could see a 35.

Unless you're way above sea level I can't picture this thing with a 55 on it, wow!

Its a very fun Sunday flyer and I'm told there will be a full review in the next Fly RC Magazine

Indiomike, that is the original Escapade and that OS 65 engine was in the recommended range, is plenty of power for the airplane.

Sorry. That was confusing as this thread is about the larger Escapade. I thought you were installing the OS 65 on the Escapade that recommends either a 30 or 35cc engine.

Yes he ended up in the wrong thread. There is another one for the 60 size Escapade.

Super08, Actually am following the right thread as I'm interested in the 1.20 size, I just commented on mine due to someone commenting on some LG issues he had on the 1.20 and I chimed in with my problems with the 61. Sorry for the confusion.

Well I have two flights and both were nail biters! The plane flew well but I had a problem with control loss. The maiden was done while we had a big T-cell close by and the weather was not the best as there was a big thermal that took the plane about 200 ft.
in an instant. I decreased power to bring it down and it dropped rapidly with no control. I put this off to the weather conditions (landed rapidly) after thinking it out, wrong! Flew about a week later and lost control briefly twice on the flight (no one home) and
thankfully was able to land w/o any problem. I checked the rx switch and found it was a little "soft" and the LED flickered if the switch was touched a little.........it was a new switch, I say was. It and the rx have both been changed. In the middle of a big re-model so it will be a while
before I fly.........

Gizmo, you are lucky, I lost an airplane a while back to a bad rx switch. How did I know? It didn't have as positive an ident before I flew it and like a dummy, but for the grace of God we go, and I lost the airplane. I keep a close eye on those switches now, any doubt and they get replaced before I fly the airplane. Wisdom, a result of experience, most of which is bad.

Hey jtsmash;
While the DLE 35RA will give you a smooth install under the cowling, but, do what best for you. I wish I could upload pictures of my setup but I am still learning my smart-phone!!!
Got to go out tomorrow and pick up the book, "Smart Phones for Dumb People"!! lol
Just check Tower Hobbies website and now their next order is due in late Aug. Never heard or read anything bad about the first batch. Over all, I love this plane. I can not wait to show her this weekend at our local airshow!!

One of the things I usually do is use a double pole slide switch, and wire the contacts in parallel.

A friend has been drooling over mine all summer and has placed an order w/tower in the past week. They must not be to far down the pike?

Fun plane, DLE 35 ra, no flaps and 4 ft takeoffs on asphalt! Point it up and no holding back!
