Hobby King Falcon 20cc Trainer
Has anyone put together one of these? If so what did you do about the tail wheel. It comes with A tail skid. This is not my first ARF. I was thinking about a pull pull set up or a servo just for the tail wheel. I have A Sullivan tail wheel. What I have done already is to epoxy the wings together and CA all the places I can get to in the fuselage as soon as it dries I will fuel proof the in side of the fuselage with thinned out epoxy. I going to use A Dle 20 on it. I bought the airplane to use to break in a couple of 20cc engines. Going to put the fuel tank on the CG and the igniter box in the fuel compartment along with the throttle and choke servo and use the batteries for balance so what do you all think so far

Looking at it, I suspect a 10cc engine would fly it like a trainer, and a 20 will really haul it around with enthusiasm. If it uses anything like lite-ply for the dihedral brace, toss it in the trash and make a replacement out of 1/8th aluminum and sandwich thin balsa on each side to build up the width to the necessary dimension. Lie ply will will quickly fail.

will I used the lite ply brace. my problem is the tail wheel it has just a skid I was thinking of using a hitic 81 mg in the back and use a pull pull on the tail wheel think I am going to need the weight for C.G

Might take some digging, but this is about what you are after if you don't want to go to the complexity and weight of a dedicated tail wheel servo.
The straight part of the wire follows the back of the fuse up to the rudder, where a sharp 90 degree bend lets you attach it to the rudder.

Well l I flew it this weekend and what a hand full it was. here's what happened when I gave throttle it wanted to climb like a home sick angle. The balance is from 110-120cm I have it balanced at 115cm. I know its A trainer and when you add power it will climb almost vertical my thinking is wing incidence or down thrust. I could add weight to the nose and see what that would do but I don't want to add weight. I could add a touch of up ailerons to see if the climb would stop or slow it from climbing. I don't fly at full power 1/2 throttle is were I like( I have A tiger moth that has A lot of down elevator just to fly level at 1/2 throttle)does and or did have problem like this and what do you suggest

Going to use for break-in some 20cc motors also, plus some aero-tow.
Did you get c of g by location of equipment, or did you need ballast?
I like to mount rud/elev servos to rear of fus. and use short push-rods
on this type of model.

mounted servos in the servo slots in the fuselage and added 9oz of weight to the rear of the airplane. I thought about mounting the servos in the rear but not much there you would have to make cut outs and build servo mounts. Also move the fuel tank back and use the front compartment for the ignition unit. get a Sullivan tail wheel assembly one with a steering arm and I used a hitec 81 servo for the tail wheel

Also check the fit of the wing leading edge dowel where it goes in to the slot of the fuselage mine was lose after one flight I could move it up and down I used a piece of electrical tape to fix it temporary

Yes always try to put tank over c.g. with gassers.
Will try a test fit of gear, maybe a new thicker firewall moved back an inch or so
and cut the nose off square. (can build in down-thrust)
Does the aluminium landing gear handle the weight ok?

yes the landing gear seems to hold up well. As far as down thrust just add two washers behind the top engine mount bolts why go thru the hassle of moving the fire wall back what I did for weight is I got 3 3oz fishing weights and pounded them flat and cut the covering away back by the horizontal stabilizer and epoxied them in and put A patch on the covering

just never like adding "dead" weight if I can avoid it.
After reading all posts also thanks to biker bc (I also like my knees in the breeze ) re down thrust tip, lifer re dihedral brace (definitely, nothing like hearing that "crack" coming out of a dive)
and ahicks re tail wheel. (my "Revolver" still lives!)
