Well thought i'd treat myself to a Christmas gift and ordered the IFlyTailies carbon cub instrument panel , a little pricey but it looks to be a nice addition .....

Thanks, they work perfectly. One new nit: The jury struts are held to the main struts by little sheetmetal strap clamps that have a tiny screw and nut holding them to the attachment shackle. Unfortunately, the straps are an imprecise fit to the airfoil-shaped strut, and the screw can't be tightened enough to give them a grip. I suppose I could disassemble them and file the shackle down, but I think I'll just put a little epoxy under the straps once they're aligned.

I maidened my CC last week. Only one flight, as I lost the prop and had to come home and wait for new part. But, she took off very nice and seemed to fly just fine. I had a 15/8 prop on the 95 OS FS and I think it was just a little bit to much prop for a maiden. I will go with the 14/8 this week when we return to the field. I did notice one thing that no one else has mentioned. The CG. I had one of the early versions of the planes, so the CG was printed incorrectly at almost 6 inches back from the leading edge; wrong. The correct location is right at the wing tube. Also, the later versions have the flap control horns in the proper location to allow one channel operation.

Hi All,

I ordered this plane and am waiting for it to come off back order. I am trying to figure out my power plant but having trouble making up my mind. For gas, I was thinking of going DLE20 or O.S. GT22. Any comments on either motor for this plane considering power, ease of installation, modification, etc? I was reading earlier in this thread that the plane is under powered with a 15cc - My original plan was a O.S. GT15. (I'm and O.S. guy) I also purchased the float kit and plan to fly this plane mostly off water in the summer time. I'm hesitant to use gas on the water in the summertime as I tend to fly early in the morning and don't want to chase the plane if it stalls. Any suggestions on the ideal electric motor? I know horizon recommends the power 60.... anything comparable from Rimfire? Thanks for you help!

You are going to have to cut the cowl for clearance anyway, so I think it would be your choice. I'm still breaking in the OS 95 FS, so I really can't give much info on the equivilant power. At the moment, I'm not impressed with the power on the top end. The DLE will cost a lot less than the OS. I'm not sure how far the prop hub will be forward of the cowl. I think Desertlakesflying has flown with the 15cc and then went to the DLE so he could probably give better info on this. Good luck.

Jury still out on this one. I may have had overheating which precluded a nice full power flight. Flies scale at half. I noticed a CC with a 20 cc RCGF engine for sale on RCU today, out of Tennessee.

Took her out again, had radio problems and was lucky to bring her home. The 95 will fly the bird scale; if you like to do a lot of aerobatics, go with a 20cc or even a fs120 (the engine will hang out the bottom). Otherwise, scale aerobatics can be done with the 95 fs. Once I fixed the dang doors (not closing tight w/magnets), I think I'll keep her.

I would love to see a video of that!.. I have a CC electric and it's nice but I keep dreaming of putting a 4 stroke in it. My OS 1.20 might fit but I'd have to hack that beautiful cowl all up and I hate to do that. Do you have any video handy?!

Default Ignition module placement

I just finished mounting a DLE 20cc to my Carbon Cub. Where would be a good location for the ignition module? Has anyone mounted it in the cowl or the motor mount?

I stuffed it alongside the tank, behind the firewall. (I have an Evo 15 in it).

What power set-up do you have that fits inside the cowl so nicely. Has anyone been able to figure out what fits under the cowl and yet is powerful enough to pull it out of the water?

I'm assembling a Carbon Cub now. Centered the stab to the fuse, measured from wingtip to front edge of stab. There is a 1/2" difference from one side to the other. The fuse looks straight, so I thought maybe something in off where the wings mate to the fuse. I called Horizon Hobbies and talked to them, he didn't have an answer, so he said he would send me an e-mail and to send them some pics. A couple of days passed and I never heard anything, gave them another call. Talked to a different guy, he said a 1/2" won't make any differents on how it flys, They did send me a e-mail so I sent them some pics. Haven't heard anything back. I was wondering what's anyone thoughts on this. When I build an airplane, my goal is too get it a lot closer than 1/2"

Mike, yes I agree. I wouldn't be happy with a 1/2". As for "not making any difference on how it flies", it may not but I wouldn't take the chance and how would you really know since you've never flew one that was spot-on to compare it too. Sounds like just a typical response from a used car salesman. Mark
