Phoenix Sonic High Wing ARF
I just received my new Sonic Hi Wing, curious about powerplants. I have a couple of very good running Thunder Tiger 25s (bushed engines, run very well) and a Magnum 52 4 cycle. I'd like to go glow and maybe some day convert if to electric. Anyone know how it would match with the 4 cycle? Thanks. Bill

I have flown the low wing Phoenix Sonic and it was more than enough with a TT .42 two stroke.
The Magnum .52 four cycle will be way too much engine for that little plane. HK sells the ASP .32 two stroke, and has way more power than a OS .40 LA.
I installed a .40 LA and the airplane was struggling all the time, had to keep it 3/4 to full throttle to prevent it from falling from the sky.
The TT .25 will be underpowered, possibly go with a .46 LA (blue engine), do stay away from the .40 LA, I was terribly disappointed.

I have The low wing and the high wing Sonic. Use the ASP .32 2-stroke. You won't be disappointed. The engine manual specifies only the 10x6 prop. I'm using the Xoar PJA 10x6. Excellent throttle response after 3 tanks and fine tuning. No issues with CG on either plane.
