You beat me to it. I have this same plane with the OS in it. Haven't flown it yet but also wanted to video from the cockpit. How did it turn out? Can you post a link for the video or e-mail it to me.

The flight was saved to a VCR tape but i might be able to capture it to my computer soon. if so ill try and make a link. I purchest a pinical software and capture device for my lap top but im not verry good at getting it to do what i want it to do. I need to work on a way of keeping the camera from shaking so much the image is perfect on a electric plane but on this gas plane it sometimes gets blurry.

I have a capture card and still have yet to figuer it out. As far as the vibration goes I was going to mount it with foam and zip ties and balance the prop. Mabey that will cut the vibration. I was going to try one of the digital recorders and see how it works, at least I will know how to put them on the computer. Good luck and let us know when you get that video up. I am ready to see some video from this plane facing forward- not back. [>:]

CG INFORMATON: In reference to the SIG CAP EX 231 73 inch. Ihave just completed mine with a DLE 20 GAS engine with aRECEVER3000 MAHLIFEBattery and a Electronic Ignition POWEREDGE 1900MAHBATTERY.Both batterys on top of one another had to be located just in front of the landing gear, and the Electronic Ignition just infront of the batteries inthe out flowair opening in the bottom of the NoseCowl. Along with this Ihad to place 8 ounces of lead that I melted to form a flat conforming profile to the inside top front of the twonose cowl airflow inlets so that they could not be seen and used finishing resin to adhere the two 4 ounce lead weights to the inside of thenose cowl. I used DU-Bro Heavy DutyPost Control Horns and linkages,DU-Bro HD PULL-PULLfor the Rudder and(7) Hi-Tec645 MG Servos, Spectrum AR7000 Receiver. Iused the 7th servo for the choke which I run off of the GEAR Channel lever. The SIG 500MM fuel tank was moved back (1) one inchand held in place with two small bungees with eye hooks, this had to bedone because using the opening of the firewall holefor the fuel tank stopperwould cause too much of a bend in the TY-GON fuel lines. With all thisbeing said:
THE MANUFACTURERS CG OF 27% WAS PERFECTWHICH IS EXACTLY 4 INCHESFROM THE LEADING EDGE ALONG THE SIDEOF THE FUSELAGE.
THE FIRST TWO FLIGHTS WERE YESTERDAY AND THREE FLIGHTS TODAY. I USED ONLY 4 CLICKS OF UP ELEVATOR, 4 CLICK OF RIGHT AILERON ANDTHE AIRPLANE FLEW HANDS OFFAND WHEN INVERTED, ITWANTS TO CLIMBSLIGHTLY, WHICH MAKES FOR A PERFECT SET UP. Initially I thought the 20 DLE GAS engine was going to make it under powered, but it will do all of the IMAC manuevers without effort.....It likes to land a little long bec ause the engine idle does not settle down right away when landing do to too much residule fuel still in the chamber with an inverted engine. But it is very gentle and forgiving on Take Off and Landings and does not show any wing tip stall tendencieswhen landingassociated with the CAP's.............Sonny Silvaroli

Interesting Sonny,
I am going to put a DLE 30 in mine. just waiting on a replacment sensor and servos to arrive.

Was going to use a Saito 180, but once i got the used DLE, I scrapped that plan!

Never considered the 20, thought it might be too small.

My CAP231EX was originally powered by an OS 1.60FX 2-stroke glow engine with a Bisson Pitts style muffler and the performance was great with unlimited verticals.
The CAP's next engine was the excellent MVVS 26cc gas but those gas 26cc's weren't enough to haul this model around like the 26cc glow (OS 1.60). It ran out of steam going vertical.
The CAP regained all of it's great performance and unlimited verticals with the installation of the 36cc PTE-36R gas engine.
That old adage, "there is no replacement for displacement" applies here. Twenty cc's would be way too lethargic for my taste.

Thanks, I have tried that already. No luck. Been out of production for 10 years. They told me to look for anyone making a 1/4 scale Cap 231 but there doesn't appear to be anyone making them currently, at least what I could find.

10 years!? Wow, had no idea its been that long.

Watch eBay for a used one maybe. I picked up my Sig Cap at a swap meet.

Otherwise start carving foam to make your own plug and either pull your own or make one from 'glass.

Mine is nearly ready to go, I had the paint computer matched so I could re-work the cowl as new, so any engine can now be installed. Was thinking about my Turnigy 26cc...
