I read in a Magazine that this airplane is capable of 210KPH.
Can you give any coments.http://www.westonuk.co.uk/kit.htm
This is the e-mail I receive from them:
The Magnum ARTF kit only is £90 (roughly $130) including the postage to USA
The Magnum deal including the West 50 V1 motor, tuned pipe and manifold is
£225 (roughly $315) including the postage to USA
The optional 2" aluminium spinner is £6.95 (roughly $10)
If you wish to place an order we can send it to you via Parcelforce
Scheduled Service, which takes about 4 - 5 days. Simply supply your full

Its MPH, theres 3 in our club, one with a MVVS 40, one with the first Weston WXL 46 :thumbdown and one with the new West 50
the MVVS 40 and WXL 46 are pretty well matched, except the MVVS lasts longer than a weekend, the West 50 isnt much faster on the flat but blows them away on the climb ( still needs fine tuning and to be fully ran in! )
This a masive improvement over the sheet wing version and good quality now in the ARTF kits.
make sure you reinforce the wing mount block, make sure those 2 M3 screws dont come undone, or take the block with them, put the bigest tank in there you can, 3-4 mins on the West 50 isnt enough and you'll be begging for more.
rock steady at low levels, even tho its damn fast its a good way to start going fast without having a nervous plane.
Personaly i'd try to hide the pipe in the fiberglass canopy, but thats just coz i dont like drag.
Beware of that ali spinner, it must be balanced, the bolt has been known to snap, thats gos for the prop too
Buy it! you'll be a happy chappy

Isaac,
I have the Magnum with thw WXL 46. I haven't had any problems with that engine. You will love this plane. At most fields it will be the fastest plane they have ever seen.

Theres a M4 or 5 ( i forget ) bolt that holds the cone of the spinner to the back plate, i've seen 2 snap.
you MUST get a magnetic balancer, mark the spinner and back plate, and balance each piece, then bring them together and make sure it is balanced
MMallory out of interest, what fuel ar you using? the recomended Weston Pro Synth? or the "local" fuel? and if local, whats the oil/nitro content?
for more discussion on this plane have a look in the new fast props section, theres a really fast magnum in there

I only use Wildcat fuel. For the Magnum I have been using 10% premiun X-tra. It is 18% oil with 80% synthetic and 20% castor. I've found a lot of engine problems have gone away since I switched to Wildcat about 4 years ago.

umm interesting, prosynth ( synth oil only ) is the only fuel your allowed to use with the WXL or it voids the warrenty, so of course we all use it, engines going back all the time with worn out bits. you use 80/20 mix "alan would have a fit!" and yours is lasting and doing well i assume.
its really starting to sound like on this castor debate if your going fast or hot you need a bit of it, if not it only gums up your engine. if the synths can cope with the temps your going to be running at, then only use synth, if you need a bit more, add a little castor.
dont start this castor debate here, go and find my Mixing Castor thread if you wanna say anything on that.
on a diffrent note, i cant help looking at that ARTF wing and thinking sod it, forget the fuz and make a delta. i wish my head knew what my wallet does

Keep in mind finding prosynth in the US isn't easy. Since I have the good folk at Wildcat, why should I tip the apple cart. I run many ducted fan engines and I am used to high performance engines that do not have a warranty at all. I would expect if there was a manufacturing defect, that the manufacturor would repair as necesssary. I think the problem with total synthetic is cooling.

i wasnt going to say change fuel, hell, if you found one thats making your WXL last then stick with it
I wouldnt go hunting for Pro Synth then pay X$$ to ship it back to the UK for new bearings every 2 months either.
The only reason i mentioned it was that you've finialy "in 'my' mind" cleared up the Castor/Synth debate

All the bolts included in the kit was of such poor quality that i replaced them all! I could peel of the threads with a knife, and i broke the M4 spinner-bolt in two while tightening it...
Cheap ****...
Now that all of them have been replaced i look forward to try this bullet out.. Probably on tuesday...
