Default GSP.com Yak-54 140

I picked up the last one of these on Sat. at Joe Nall. Not a bad ARF for the money. It has fiberglass fuse and cowl, composite gear with cute little wheel spats. The covering looks good and the paint is very nice, although the stripes don't match exactly between the cowl and fuse.

I've got to decide on a powerplant, yet. It calls for up to a 1.40 four stroke. I've recently pickup up a 3W-24 gasser and would like to use it if possible. I just don't want it to come out too heavy and kill the flight performance.

Any thoughts?

I just finished one with a O.S.160 and although it came out at about 12/1/2 lbs. it seem's heavy to pick it up. Have noy flown it yet. Tim.

12lbs or so is nice for the 160fx. my Giles is a tad closer to 13lb and it rocks!!

Tim- I'd love to hear the flight report once you've done the maiden.

I'm a little concerned about the low wing area of 806 sq. in. The extreme flight yak and the quicque (sp?) yak have more wing area than this AND they weigh less. I'm having second thoughts about putting my small gasser on this thing, since it's probably already got a fairly high wing loading.

What does everyone think about a ZDZ 40 on an airplane like this?

Picked up mine yesterday, but due to work commitments wont look at doing any work on it for amonth or so.

Impressed with the quality, although as already noted the cowl and fuse paint lines dont match too well, still a minor problem.

I intend to stick a Moki 1.80 in mine.

Cheers

Phil
