Stickbuilder,
You didn't mention what waco kit you're building? I'm a huge fan of that aircraft.

RE: Dave Patrick super cub
Sounds like a nice engine. I like the sound of the 4 strokers thats why I am getting away from 2 stroke nito and going with more gas projects. The gas seems to sound better, not as nice as the 4 stroke but better then the winding 2 strokes. Although I like the power of my Mokis. I like to fly my models on the wing also stickbuilder, The 3D thing has gotten kinda out of hand the last few years. I tried it a little and its not for me although some guys eat it up. I like to fly my planes, nothing wrong with flying pattern and aerobatics but the straight up and down thing is not my ambition.

I got two of the three that I currently have on ebay. The third one I bought on RCU. So I have one on the table, and two NIB. I have been talking with a gentleman at COX and he assures me that Cox will, in fact offer the YMF in pure kit form beginning in July 06. I have been promised the first production kit, and I am looking forward to getting this one. My others are die-crunched 1980's vintage (the blue picture on the box) and the new one from Cox is to be laser cut. I guess I'm a nut for the WACO (I'm not trying to corner the market) I just want enough of them to last the rest of my life. I have even considered trying the ARF that they are going to release. That's saying a lot for me.

Tell your friend to expect to spend in excess of $300.00 counting shipping. The last one that I got from ebay cost me $285.00 plus the shipping charge whis was $31.00. These are getting (have already gotten) scarce, and are commanding top dollar. I was lucky, in that all three that I bought are totally complete, untouched new in box kits, with all the wood in excellent condition. I really was sweating getting burned, but all were as advertised. I think I know where another one is, and if you will P.M. me, I will give you my e-mail address, and will try to locate one for him.
One point; I would not reccomend this kit to anyone who has not been building either from elaborate kits, or from plans. The instructions are very meager, and the parts are not called out on the plans. You need to have a good bit of experience, or you will become frustrated very quickly. This is not to say that it is a difficult kit, just that it is not an easy one, and it sure is not a first attempt kind of model. I would hate to see one lost forever due to someone starting the build and giving up.
I do not have the production numbers for the 1/5 th WACO from PICA, but it seems to be fairly low. If he wants to check out ebay, he can do a little sleuthing and just may find one on an obscure page. I got the last one that way, and why it was there, is beyond me. There were no other model airplanes on that page, just some craft articles.

RE: Dave Patrick super cub
I found some good windshield material for a 25 year old Balsa USA Cub directly from Balsa USA. I used the old windshield as a pattern and used small screws to attach the new one. It looks like new.
Good Luck,

RE: Dave Patrick super cub
Some advice please?
As my Clipped Wing has to be recovered due to poor quallity manufacturing, I am considering using Oratex, which is an iron on fabric, not a plastic. I am only using a OS FS 120.... will the cover add much more weight and if so, will the 120 be under powered?

I'm not familiar with Oratex, but I did a Cub a couple of years ago (non ARF) and used Sig Koverall, and Nitrate/Butyrate dope for a really nice finish. It finished pretty light too, but not everyone has the experience to do this stuff, nor the shop space required to do it. You need some good ventilation to squirt the dope too.

Once I order the covering i will start a post covering the build. I've got lost of mods planned and hope to build a well detailed Cub that could win some awards down here in Austarlia.

Just bought my OS fs 120 III, but it is too big to fit in the cowl.. only by about 5mm []
Are there any other powerplants that don't fit as I need to choose an alternative?

I've spoken to my hobby store and they may swap it for a Saito 120 which should fit.... just.
