Default GP Patty Wagstaff - G62

I have a Zenoah G62 tha is looking for an airplane. For those of you with GP Patty Wagstaff a G62, how well does it fly with this engine? What are the landing characteristics of this plane, goes it come in fast or does it land slow? Are they any other planes that would fly well with this engine and in the $400 price range?

I believe you will find the G62 to be rather heavy for the Patty. You might checkout the Wild Hare 28% planes, they were built with the G62 in mind.

I got A patty with a Fuji 64a Flies Great Havent tried to hover yet but I did do an Unlimited vertical and stoped when I powered down from 3/4 throtle and then pulled out of it After the Stall. Landing was a little hot cause I couldnt slow down with out cuting the motor off, but now I am using a 22x10 in place of the 22x12. so it will slow down nice and do a 3 point touch down as jently as a Airliner with no wind.

I have to also agree with Ric. I have however, seen three of these fly with 62s. They all seamed to fly very well. I just don't think this airframe needs the extrra weight although, execpt for the gear (you will have to bend it back occasionally), it is capable, structurally, of handleing it. I will recommend that the connection of the firewall to the fuesalage be augmented with some glass and epoxy on the inside, though. Bottom line for me is, there are planes out there, better suited to the 62.

I think Ric has a better idea for you as others have said...

While the G-62 will fly it, in it's stock configuration it's going to give you some pretty high wing loading. Getting Ralph to put your G-62 on a diet would help, but basically you need more wing area.

While some have indicated their Patty's weigh less than 17 lbs. that's exactly what mine weighs with a ZDZ-50 in it which is a chunk lighter than a stock Zenoah. It fly's really well and seems to handle better than it's wing loading might suggest. But I am putting together one of the new WildHare 28% Extras for the ZDZ. It's got almost 200 more squares of wing and should be less weight than Patty, we'll see what it weighs when I get the Bunny put together.

You can get either an Extra or an Edge which has a bit more wing area for $429.00 from WildHare but that doesn't include the hardware package which is another $75.00, which is a pretty good deal when you see what it comes with. Patty comes with all the hardware, but I suspect most folks are replacing most if not all of it.

If you have a G62 converted to electronic ignition and lighten, then it may be OK.
The original magneto ignition G62 will be a little heavy.

The World Models Patty Wagstaff is a LOT better plane for LESS money. It has 1175 square inches and it's lighter. It has a bigger wingspan at 80". $350+shipping at www.airborne-models.com

I've had one for 4yrs with a G-62 on it. The engine was converted to C&H before I ever mounted it on the plane. It flies fantastic and tracks great. I finally took the gear out of mine about a month ago. 400+ flights. It doesn't owe me anything, but I'm having it fixed eventually. Weight? How does 15.75 pounds grab ya? Not BS--it really is that light with my G-62 in it. JR8411 on rudder--mounted in the tail. JR8231 on ailerons and elevators. Single 2700mah MH 6V battery and switch.

The World Models plane is hands down a lot better deal than the GP model. Cheaper, Bigger, more wing area, lighter.

A g-62 in patty is WAY over powered..just look at mine..blew the rudder right off.
