Default Direct Connection F-20 Tigershark

I am going to order this, and was wondering if any of you are familiar with this plane or the quality of their kits?

Thanks for any help!

I'm interested in this too and also the Cermak F-20. The .60 sized bird with retracts.

Anybody?

Mav,

I just finished the .60 F-20 (Cermark) and you can see the comments in the "reviews" forum at RCWatch.com. It's titled "My new baby". I'm looking for a smaller one now!

Mav,

I believe this only comes in red. Well, it does have a little black on the top of the nose. There are a few items that need attention, so if ya end up getting one, let me know!

I got this one in a trade, its the 40 size with a YS.45. It is pretty fast yet lands slowly, I recommend it. I have spring airs in mine though. I love this plane.. It was covered when I got it so the rainbow isnt my doing, I trimed off the bottom, its quite visible.

Default D/C F-20 Tigershark...

Two thumbs up on this model... You can get it in an ARC from Directconnectionrc.com, or if you'd like to build the kit, Tower Hobbies has one left in the scratch and dent section. They said the box was only damaged.

I have another that's still in the box that I have slated for my winter project. I bought some Spring Air retratcs for it. The one in the picture doesn't have retracts. It's a real nice airplane.

If I remember right that one at tower is like $160 or something, get them new from D/C for only $150.

snaggs,

What is the plane next to your F-20 with the blue and red bands on the wing tips?

JohnVH,

I saw your F-20 pictures on one of the other boards. I love the way you have finished the bottom. Simple but classy!

You can see it over in the Jet seciton under "Show and Tell". It's a BVM Maverick. You can also visit my web site to read more about it.

JohnVH,

This appears to have a cowl on the nose? Is it fiberglass? Also, could you tell us what the hatches are for under the fuse.

Thanks,

Gary

Yes the cowl is glass, the hatches, the front one is for the servo's, the rear one is where the linkages hook to the control rods for the surfaces. This is a great flying plane!

Default F-20 / Spring Air Retracts

John,

Do you know what model the Spring Air's are that are in your F-20? I bought the 302's for mine. Just wondering if they were the same model. Also, have you had any trouble with them as far as sticking or not locking in the the down position?

From the looks of the bottom of the airplane it looks like they're pretty trustworthy. I think the quality of them is outstanding. I've played a little bit with the ones I have. It seems as though they really lock hard when they come down, which is good.

Thoughts? Comments?

-Steve

They lock down great, I did add a little white grease to the sliding parts on the nose wheel so it comes down easier, I have spring airs on my ducted fan also, Very simple, one air line.

I am not sure on the model, is there a number on them? I will pull them out and look if you need me to.

Take some chopping up picks for me, as I may do this to one also. Need a spare just incase!

Default Retracts...

John, There's no number on them so taking them out wouldn't help. I'm sure it's the 302 kit. Go to www.retracts.com and look at the 300 kit. That's exactly what I bought. Even though they show the 302 kit. The only difference between the 301 and 302 set is how the nose gear mounts. The 302 is a horizontal mount, as in our case it mounts to the fuel tank floor. The 301 is a vertical nose gear mount where it would mount upright to a firewall.

The 200, 400, 500 are just different sizes. When I called them and asked what to get they recommended the 300 series. They look like the right size for the airplane.

I had some Hobbico Mechanicals on a Spectrum and didn't like them. The air retracts are nice cause you can route an air tube all over the place, where that's not as easy to do with a metal rod.

Default F20

I built one of the D.C. Sea Fury kits last winter. The quality of the kit and the wood is top notch. The plane flys really well.
