RE: Yak-54 140
erland, i know that Great feeling when you don't need to fly because of some Problems..
it's like you go home no in your "fault"...........
check everything.. and belive me, if your CG is good (between 135-140) it will fly great! you will see that....
Good luck Next time... (you don't charge your TX every weekend?? i'm on every Friday or Sat, charging everything!)

Hi Juvaknin,
I just noticed that you are online. It's 1:53 pm in North Carolina. What time do you have? Or -- if you don't see this now, what is your time normally from Greenwich Std time (sorry universal time)?

RE: Yak-54 140
Sorry for not being around but work funds toys and play time on that subject Ropell seems like you just about have yours wired in I still need to get a onboard glow heater and would like suggestions on a light dependable one and finalize choice on engine its down to Saito 150,180 or YZ 160 (its pricey but i am told it is better than the Saito 180) although I cant substanciate that have ruled out the Saito 2.20 for extra weight
What to do What to do

RE: Yak-54 140
Juvaknin thank for answering have you hit 9000 rpm yet and have you heard anything good or bad about
the YS 160 DZ I have seen in other forums that there 140 is more powerful than Saito 180 and I saw the weight of the 160 is the same as the 180
Do you think you will have any time or interest to see if you can remove any of the 800 gr of weight
Sorry Ropowell for spelling your name wrong in last post what do you think of my engine thoughts

RE: Yak-54 140
I have a 17x8 on my Saito 180 do you guys think it is to big?
Don't know what rpm's I get out since I don't have a rpm-meter.
Also I have a 16x8 prop, may be I should use that instead?
What would be the diff?
/Erland.

RE: Yak-54 140
Falcon26, no i didn't had chance to fly so i didn't got 9000, and mabe i won't get this week. becuase i'm going up slowlly, still new engine Break-in.... so i'll got up to 8800 arround that.....
and actually i "can" remove the 800 grams... because i didn't made any changes! for example if i'll move the engine 20mm front i'll save arround 300-400 grams...... and i'll move servos and reciver alittle more to front... i'll save more..
but for now i don't have time for Changing stuff but i know i must try do that, so sometime it will be done!
for erland,
Saito - 180 4 strk "without RPM-Meter"???????? how you know your idle rpm and max rpm? it's very importent to know this Rpms so you won't be damage your engines! order one it's only arround 20-30$....
i'm using 16x8 with 15% fule, for me it's working great...... someone told me i don't need bigger Prop...
and also, all the Engine information and specs, of the saito-180 has made at factory with 16x8... see in the instructions...
i'm not shure you will notice the diffrent in flight between the 16x8 or 17x8.. with 16x8 you can get some more RPM..

Erland, look here: http://saito-engines.info/prop_sizes.html
17/8 seems to be the best prop for the 180
lots of saito info there..

WOW SJN,
I'm sure that I've been to Saito.com before BUT I never saw all of this Great INFO. You cost me a couple of hours of time today and I've never been more elated. Thanks for the sharing!

OK Guys,
Someone has to explain to me -- what time are we one! I see the time stamps for each of our posts but I don't know the reference time! I'm sure that, given the time(hehehe), I could figure it out (maybe). But anyway, we are all around the world, literaly. OK, just to help you to help me, I am, or was a licensed pilot and I undstand global time and I would just like to know how to read our time stamps. Thanks a lot.

ropowell, time time time.... my time here now it's 6:45AM (Israel)
the best way to know our time it's just get into [link=http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/]http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/[/link] with search you can find all the times of our locations..
Falcon26, i also heared that YS 4-strk engines is alittle more stronger then the Saito...
but i take the Saito, because Saito Engines are veryyyyyyyyyy reliable compare to other 4-strk engines!!

RE: Yak-54 140
About the time you see in the posts, it is the time it was posted on "your" local time.
SJN, regarding my pick of the 17x8 prop size, actually I got it from the site you recommended.
/Erland.

RE: Yak-54 140
Erland,
Thank you. You addressed the basis of my problem! I was trying to relate the posted times to the point of origin -- while, as you indicated, the times are converted to each of our own times. (I haven't checked this out yet). How simple -- and yet, I would have never assumed it. OK, I really did grow up before computers and maybe I still resent (or question) them a little. Yes, I still have my first "slide rules" from engineering school and I still remember the arguments with fellow engineering educators a little later as to the appropriateness of allowing the use of calculators, no less computers, by students!
To all the rest, thanks for humoring me!!!

RE: Yak-54 140
OOPs again,
I just went searching and found that in my Forum settings there is a place to set your time reference. It appears that if you don't set this then your time stamp will be in Greenwich time but you can change to your local time if you wish. BEST WISHES TO ALL!
