What rpm you get on that flight video and what prop is that?
The G26 is actually a very versatile and quiet a power house. My G26 on Super Stearman is hitting 8300 rpm on APC 17x8. With APC 18x6W, it will hit almost 8200. With APC 18x8, it hit about 7800. These are in excess of 16lbs thrust....
The Stearman fly best on either 17x8 and 18x8. 18x6w too slow though have same thrust. The stearman was heavy and needed lots of momentum to carry the upline climb.

Manga,
If I'm not mistaken it recording also 8300rpm on 18x6 master airscrew but I believe with better tuning on the crab it should be higher.
The engine is heavy! but good for scale flyer only.
Got your posting for your Stearman? Here mind warbird that is about to finish.

RE: Yak-54 140
I had a Moki 1.80 in mine.. little smaller in CC but I belive the same if not more power ... No weight was needed for balance. Unlimited vertical. Nice big prop 19x6 slowed down for landing.. I flew the plane about 5 times then pulled the gear out for my next project.. Still have the plane which is in perfect condition and it is for sale just have not listed it yet.. $100 airframe only...

RE: Yak-54 140
hi, i am also building this plane, i have built many arf's, so the lack of instructions are not that big of a deal, however, i am having trouble figuring out how they want the cowl mounted....and none of the pics on here show it...the plan looks like they want the 4 blocks of wood epoxied to the cowl, then what?...do you have any pics showing this in detail?...or could you explain it to me?
thanks, dave

RE: Yak-54 140
If I remember correctly you should epoxy the blocks on the onside of the fuselage.
A good idea is to first put on the cowl and then tape it (or something) then drill holes through the cowl and fuse' (at the same time).
Then you can see on the inside where you should glue the wood blocks.
Br,
/Erland.

Hi Guys, I'm a bit late to the party and have picked up a second hand yak54 140, and an SPE 40cc Engine. Possibly not the best plane as an introduction to IC powered flight, but I have flown large electric and have flown other peoples IC aircraft with no problems. I'll be using it for pattern type flying initially, and as i get more comfortable with the airframe, i'll be doing a little more 3d...
Just some quick questions....
1. I have had no linkages with the plane, so was going to use m3 threaded bar and metal clevises for the control surfaces... thoughts..?
2. What strength Servos should i be going for? I was thinking of using hitec hs645mg servos, with 7kg/cm torque.
3. The tail wheel seems a little weak, has anyone modded this?
If All of the above can be answered by me reading through the thread cover to cover, im happy to do that, so just tell me to stop being lazy!
:-)
PS. Is anyone still flying their yaks?
Rich
