Vmar or World Models
I am looking for a second plane after my trainer that is rugged and cheap and ARF. It would have to be easy to repair or coat any ideas or suggestions?

reapr - you have got to be kidding asking this ... VMAR is a waste of time compared with WM. You can also try:
i. Phoenix Scanner ... a simple cheap but very nice to fly second plane, something you can fly without the pucker factor
ii. WM T34 ... nice to fly plane and a great first low wing
iii. WM Rambler 45 ... 40 sized plane that is nice to fly and you can feel the larger air frame helps in making the plane steadier
Of course there is your SIG 4* etc ... all nice planes.

You're kidding right?! VMAR has it's place if you like a particular one of their planes and you have a strict budget. You may have to go behind their work a little though. WM is what you get when you really have to have quality, an easy build, and a good flier.

VMar don't make a good 2nd plane, or a 3rd or a 100th. The WM T-34 is the best 1st low winger, fly's great, strong like a tank and with an OS .46 & magic pipe its a Ferrari with wings (well ,almost!!).
You can find many other great flying low wingers like the Rambler or GP S Sporster and most look as good if not better than the T-34 but none are half as strong.

I just finished my World Model Sky Raider Mach-II as my second model. Nice model and easy to build. Took me about 6 hours to complete. And the best part, it only costs $70.

Good luck,

I have a SkyRaider Mach II low wing with an OS 46AX and love it. The airplane is light, easy to repair and has almost unlimited vertical climb with the OS 46AX, and it's easy to fly nice. The WM company seems to have the best ARFs around.

RE: Vmar or World Models
Havent dealt with VMAR (and have heard NOTHING but bad things about them), but I have had several World Models planes and highly recommend them. Well made, fly well.
I would give another vote for what seems the most popular of their planes here, the T34. Had an OS .52 four stroke in mine and it was a blast. Finally had to retire it before it fell apart but that was no fault of the plane rather due to some idiot (me) drilling into the fuel tank and soaking the entire inside of the fuse with fuel. I put many flights on that plane afterwards with a LOT of hard landings, including a couple of cartwheels. Only repairs (other than a certain fuel tank) were adding some ply to the tail when the stab loosened up and a few bits of tape for pinholes in the covering.
Picture of it here next to my kit built Kaos and my dad's PT 40:

RE: Vmar or World Models
No kidding! My brother and I are new to the hobby and ordered each a plane and a motor from VMAR. My plane is OK (v stik) but I'm not real pleased with the build quality, my brothers is the new stinger and he is pleased with the plane itself, but the motors, mine was the 46 and the throttle body seized up, sent it back to them over two weeks ago and they haven't said a word to me about it. A call to them and they tell me they haven't gotten it yet (when I have the UPS signature that they did).
Then my brother was running his 52 motor when it threw a rod on him!!!
Their customer service after the sale sux!
Stay away from richmonrc!

Manfred ... my LHS bought in like a container load and sold it all, not that it was very cheap. Funny how people got for looks and will say that its a good plane. Oh well ... this we get from some so called seasoned flyers.

I don't think I need to reiterate that WM is a good ARF (oops, just did it)
Just curious, though, why would you be looking at these specific brands?

RE: Vmar or World Models
A cheap plane from Vietnam is the Black Horse series ... I got the new laser cut batch of SU31 ... its cheap but after 70 flights, none of the covering has come off at all. VMARS? Well after like 15 flights the so called quality covering comes off!!! A friend of mine got the Stilletto and he wants to set it on fire!
