RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER
I'm still flying mine, and it gets better with every flight. Powered by os 108 which is plenty of power for me. It will fly nice smooth maneuvers and lands very well with some power applied.
The hardest part of flying this airplane is keeping it straight on the runway when taking off. Very short coupled fuse. Still draws attention at the field cause it's a really good looking bipe.
Has anyone found a source for a replacement cowl for this plane?

try ''fiberglass specialties'' if they don't have one they can make you one. they custom made a 1/5 scale hughes h-1 racer cowl (special shape) now i believe they stock that cowl. so maybe they will do the same for you after all it seems that there is a demand for them.

Maiden fly my with Zenoa 26cc and almost crash, not enough power to move this big boy. Took off with full throttle it barely lift off the ground, landed safe in one piece weight the airplane is almost 15 pounds and the engine only has 10 pounds thrust. I replaced it with Saito 180 and oh man it completely different i got over 15 pounds thrust with 18X8 prop. Took the big boy to the field to maiden again, at close to haft throttle it lift the ground smooth and fly awesome. Not sure the DLA32 has enough power for this boy but for now im happy with this setup and the next step is add the SMOKE system.

Hey, do any of you guys have a spare canopy that you will be willing to sell me? Mine parted ways with the fuselage while in flight and was torn in half in the process. Or maybe you know where I can locate one.
Thanks,
Craig

I bought my kit when it first came out in 2004 had it sitting for 11 years starting to put it together, noticed the cabanes dont seat properly in the top wing notches. Anyone have any issues with this?? I know its really way after the fact but someone must have recollection of this issue. It really is a major problem.

Bob,
Don't mean to be insensitive, but do you have them on upside down or reversed on the wings? I had one and sold it last year.
Great plane. I started out with a Saito 1.80 but I could not keep the muffler on! Finally switched to an Evolution 26 and it was
a perfect fit.
Happy Flying!

Instructions clearly say"slightly longer ones go on the rear, Reversed?? How can that be done? They are not upside down as the tab with the 2 mounting holes only goes into the fuse.Have tried all combinations they don't work. UNLESS!! I am missing something !
Thanks for the reply, wished I was missing something.

Sorry 'bout that. I confused cabanes with the N struts. However, I do remember I have a buddy that may still have his. I will check with
him and let you know.
him and let you know.

No worries Bob. There is not a modeler out there that hasn't had that happen to them ... unless they are lying! That is why you have a buddy look
over the control throws before the first flight. Working in, out, and around the model so closely you can lose orientation.
Enjoy the Pitts, you will love flying it! Found a shot of mine. And yes, it was a 400 hp engine in it!
Happy Flying!

Hey Bob you have the best ARF ever made! The cabanes are easy to reverse; but only fit one way on front or rear. I fly mine with an OS GT 22cc gasoline engine and it is wonderful! The OS 22 costs a bit more than other junk gas engines; but its worth every penny. lots of power with a 17 x 7 prop. it starts so easy I can use an old Goldberg 3" plastic spinner cause I never needed an electric starter to get it going. The Goldberg design is the best flying Pitts model ever.
I have over 200 flights on mine and it has been fllying since 2006! It's my first choice for fun flying, and I alwalys take it to big fly-ins because it flys well in any weather conditions (WIND) and draws lots of attention.
Too bad they dont make ARFS this good any more. I would love to find another kit for a back-up in case I dork this one showing off how well it flys!

Bob,
Thank you for the invite. That would be neat to "do it like a Wright Brother!" If you make it up to the Piedmont, you are most welcome to our
field, Central Carolina RC.
Happy Flying!

"she flies !" Flew her finally last Monday 5/9/16 Never had an ARF that flew "off the boards with ZERO trim " amazing experience needs to be tuned in with throws and minor tweaks i.e.. CG but what a terrific plane !
Electrified with Rimfire,120 out runner,CC esc with built in BEC running 2-5S with 4000mah,wired for double amperage 17x8 APC,just a sweet heart, can't wait till next flying day to start wringing her out.

Hey fellas,
Don't wanna Hi-Jack this thread, but I'm currently working on one of these for a friend and he didn't get the manual with it. Pretty easy to figure out without it, but can any of you snap a pic of the page in the manual that lists it or let me know where the C.G. is supposed to fall on this bird? Much appreciated!

Goldberg Pitts Model 12 CG on mine is exactly half way between the front and rear cabane struts at the bottom of the TOP wing. Just lift the model with fingertips placed in between the 2 upper cabane struts right above the fuselage.
This is without fuel. Enjoy the best ARF ever made! I would love to have a back - up kit in case I damage mine.

Thanks,
This was the ONLY ARF that I ever built that flew perfectly on the first flight, she is a bit of a hot dog but except for some minor tweaks, throws and minor trims, plane is great.
