Who here has information on the Lanier Extra 300L ARF? I'm most interested in hearing about the 40 size, but will take information on the 120 size if you got it. Please specify whether you have the the first or second generation. Also, I'm not as concerned with how it fly's as much as it's quality and aesthetics.

Tower keeps lowering the price on these things, and I wonder if they're worth it?

Hi PI!

I was interested in this plane last spring and took one out of the box at my LHS (the 1.20 size). My impressions were that the fuse was very narrow as was the cowl (didn't look like you could put any engine in their side mounted). The fuse seemed heavy and the control surfaces were small with little throw. The tail did not have an airfoil. The instructions were pretty vague. Seemed built well, though. Just wasn't for me. To be fair... I did not build or fly the plane. Lanier's Edge seems pretty nice, though.

Hi PI,
Well I have got one 1.20 size and when I started putting it together, I found to be a very nice plane and easy to assemble. I have used OS1.60 fx engine and flown it for almost 12 times. It flies very well and a very guiet plane. Does all kind of stuff. Very happy with it. However, I am selling it so that I could enjoy gas engines and bigger planes.

Default I have the 60 size.....

It looks like a nice plane.....built very well.....I haven't flown it yet. I agree with the other guy who mentioned the small surfaces, but this is not a 3 D plane so they will be fine. I have flown a 1.20 size plane and it was rock solid. I'm build this one up with a Saito 100 to practice IMAC stuff....

The 1.20 is quite a good value. A friend of mine built a larger elevator and rudder for it (built up from sticks) and this really made the aircraft a 3D machine. His finished out at 11 1/2 lbs. with OS 1.60.

I have one of the 40 sized Extras with a Surpass 91 in it and I really like it. It flys very well for a small performance plane. I am not sure if this was a first or second run kit because I bought it used. I think the construction and covering job looks pretty well done, but I am not as picky as some other guys. Overall I am impressed with this plane and it is a blast to fly!

I have the 40 size and after acouple of flights with the magnum 91 4stroke I am having to redo the engine mount. The plane was shaking so bad that every flight things were falling off. I am putting on a rubber shock mount on now. Also had to put some big washers on the back side of the landing gear mount. Flys pretty good other than that though.

Plane,

Sorry I just noticed this post. I have several 1/4 scale planes and this has turned into my favorite (the 1.20 size that is). I put in a Saito 1.50 and a McDanial on-board glow. JBH nailed it in their description. I dont mine the small control serfaces as I'm not into 3D flying yet. However it does all the "conventional" aerobatics with flying colors!

The side mounted motor does extend way out the side as someone mentioned. But if you check out my photo library, you'll see it doesnt look that bad.

Anyone know where i can order parts for the 1.20 size? I lost the rudder, elevatoir and all hinges. Bought this about 4 years ago and never put it together. I've since moved out of my Parents house and now things are not around...

Any help is appreciated. Wanting to get this thing in the air...

Regards,
Fas

I just bought an assembled but never flown 1.20 size. It is beyound my flying skills now but I do want to finish it. I think Lanier says 1.20-2.20 4stroke. Would OS120 surpass be enough or should I go to Saito 180. No 3D, just airobatics. Thanks for any input.RACJ
