I bought one of these for my Super Stearman and it did not completely block the carb line. I took it back, he gave me another one, I installed it, same problem. If I hold a considerable amount of pressure against the fueler with the nozzel then it does'nt leak. Am I the only one with this problem or should they change the product name to Great Planes Easy ,Leaky, carb flooding fueler ???

I start filling my Moki 135 with the 5/16th large fuel line and the fuel filler in question and then prime it up and she fires right up.
2 days later same thing only this time she is floods out , hmmmm.
I never really thought anything of it so i fly as usual.
I fill her back up and same thing floods out again .
Until this thread I never realized what was wrong duuuuu...lol
Thanks for starting the thread...another fuel filler is about to bite the dust .

Had a problem with the GP fuelervalves to0. Mine leaked after pulling the filler probe out. I went to the fuel dots and they are real nice but... I find I have to clamp off the fuel line to the carb or the engine floods out. With a cowled engine this is a real *&^*. Got to be a better way to be doin this.

Yes I am using a T..
Do I understand correctly that if I use a third line for the dot when filling the tank the fuel won't go through the carb line and flood the engine like it goes through the pressure line and on the ground ?.

Iron,
Just to reiterate, run another line into your tank with a clunk. Run that line to a fuel dot. This will be your fill and drain line. Works good.

Yeah, while they are very convenient, they leak all the time. And a leak between the carb and the tank will end up with a crash, sooner than later. Do the third line thing. And close the carb to zero throttle before you fuel. You should not have a flooded engine when you fill. If the thing is on a third line and it leaks, it does not matter...

Going to have to give this third line. I have been aware of it but always assumed you still had to clamp off the carb line when using it.
My GP fueler was wierd. It was on an Irvine .53 which must put out a lot of pressure. It ran fine but was blowing fuel out the fueler valve. I tried reseating it etc but it never did work right and I wouldn't have trusted it anyway.

Have never tried it, but sure will on my next setup. Those easy fuelers for sure are a pain in the ......

I have one on my Magic and I get a very small amount of backflow into the carb line, but the majority runs right out the exhaust like normal.
It's SO much more convenient than trying to take off the fuel line each time (like I was doing.).
The guy who did this on the Cap 20L I have, only put in a little 3-way T-type of connection. Floods out the carb every time. I need to upgrade it

With the fuel dots. Make sure the carb. is completely closed.(below idle) This prevents the fuel from flooding it out. G.P. fueler valves are trash.
I had problems with several of them.

I was a fan of fuel dots but after I lost the second one I found a way that works better for me. I run a second clunk on a third line that exits the bottom of the plane, but instead of a fuel dot I thread a small allen into a hard point in the bottom of the fuse, let it stick out 1/2 inch and epoxy it there, then just stick the third line on when flying. You will never loose the plug and you can keep the fill line short enough it's hardly noticeable. Its simple, fool proof, and even I can't screw it up.

GP Valves
I have a couple of GP units and a couple of DuBro's. Never had a problem with any of them. They're on my Warbirds and Cub.
Now you've got me worried! I'll try fuel dots next time just to see how they work.

I've got 2 GP fuelers...one for a Saito 180 on a Cap 231 EX, and one on an OS .61 FX in a Lazer....Both of them have been recycled from previously crashed or mothballed planes, so they're easily a number of years old.
Don't get me wrong... I'm a fan of the fuel dots too nd use them on a plane with a YS on it. I just hate the price of the Dots and T's and have found a great alternative. I use the T's and plugs that are for Drip Irrigation. THey seem to be glow fuel resistant as I put some in a jar of fuel, and after a week of soaking the fuel had not changes color, and the fittings were just like new with no softening or becoming brittle. Been using them all summer with no probs.... And at Home Depot you can get 10T's and 20 plus for about $3.00.

*Sits in the back row and stands up* Hi my name is Blackie and I am a fuel valve-alcoholic I have been sober now for one week from using fuel valves. It almost ruint my bonding with my planes due to the carb flooding and leakage. I am now clean and sober with the T's and fuel dots.
