Very nice indeed. It has been a very long time since my last visit to this site. I mean no disrespect when I say that I hope you have learned to wheel land by now. It will cut out all the bouncing. It is a difficult plane to three point as I'm sure you are aware. Of all my large scale birds, I still love my GP Stearman. I have had it sinse 03 with one rebuild. Keep up the good work.
Cheers
bird.

Here ya' go - military and super stearmans are same except for color, cowl, ailerons and wheel spats - in my military stearman assembly instruction book the color is listed as dove grey (Tower Hobbies number TOPQ0211) for the covering and the cabanes etc are same color. I searched 'light grey paint' on the Tower site and there are many to choose from but it's hard to tell which is closest to dove grey - might have to get paint matched at paint shop or find similar color in a spay can.
I added all the struts as spares when I bought my model but I'm a long way away to help any further - here's the link for the parts - cheers - maxiemac

If anyone has found replacement Cabane Struts (Fuselage - Wing mounting) for the PT-17, Super Stearman, or Waco, or has an set available, please respond. All internet searches have come up Zero/Discontinued.

I have a set for the wing and a landing gear set. The landing gear came from a super stearman and I painted them gray, not a perfect match but close enough. PM me and you can have both for the cost of postage. I wrecked mine last year at joe nall. I also have an upper wing but it would be hard to ship.

Don, I have a set I replaced with new ones several years ago. Haven't looked at them lately but think they are good enough to get you back in the air. Perhaps cracked some of the glass. Still in fine shape no bends or tweeks. A little bonds here and there. I'll let you know next day or so.

I just picked up a used PT-17 today in nice condition. I was looking on tower's website to see if they had any stearman parts just in case I needed something. I see the Stearman is now discontinued.

Sometimes their super stearman parts can be used, but pt-17 parts are all but nonexistent. Shame really, really a nice plane. Oops, my mistake. They now show the super stearman discontinued too. Won't be long and any of those parts will dry up too.

Basically it tweeted them just enough to pop a small section of glass filler off. They are strait and we're not broken or bent in any way. I left all the mounting brackets on them. A bit of bondo will repair them nicely.
The crash was in 2005. Resurrection was in 2009 and been flying still to this day. I will ship today and if you find them to not work, adjust the price. Wait till you get them to send the money order. Can't be more fair than that. The cowl is new, didn't mount the ring in it. The 'N' struts are coming too.
The reason for ordering new stuff is because I didn't want to deal with them, I'm just that way! And I had the money. Not always the case!
best wishes buddy.
I see we are about the same age, 1951. Wife is 1946. Ain't no fun when the rabbit has the gun!

Harvey, it is on its way. 14.50 for post and 50 bucks insurance. It was 50 cents less for six day delivery and no insurance! Go figure!
cheers, bird.

Have two, one is painted flat black with rod tubes in and cut out nicely between the cylinders and the other is still in the package. Will let both go, plus shipping. What will you give?
