Default 46% Hangar 9 Ultimate Bipe

So guys.. I'm interested in getting some feedback about the possibility of Hangar 9 coming out with an ARF 46% Ultimate Bipe. This is a BIG airplane at 100" span, 3310 square inches of wing area.

So tell me.. what do you think of THIS size? I know there are many who'd like it smaller..

Default Ultimate

I have 7 bipes in my collection at this time and one of them is a 102" Skybolt, another is a 72"Ultimate. There is nothing like a huge bipe in the air. When flown at scale speeds it is difficult to determine that it is a model. When the power is up they perform al least as well as an Extra, Cap, lazer or Edge. My Ultimate does the greatest inverted flat spen I have ever seen. It rotates within its own wingspan, I flat spin it on every flight and it has at least 200 flights on it now. I'd really, really like to have a MONSTER Ultimate that can perform as well at this one. Ken....The "BALSA BANDIT"

Default 46% Hangar 9 Ultimate Bipe

Hi Doug,

I saw the plane fly this year, it has an awsome presence for sure!

I voted NO on the poll though. I would be interested if H9 released it in the same catagory as their extra/ cap/ suk lineup or a size that would fly on a 100cc. It would seem to make more marketing sense that way also.

the 46% is just TOO big for me :spinnyeye

Default TO BIG

Cut it down to 80" and 80cc size then we have a deal.

It needs to be 100cc or less for any normal person to afford to fly it. Anything past this size and the prices rise dramatically.

Beautiful. But too big.

I have a 1/4-scale DP Ultimate ARC on the way. Which I'll be finishing in the same yellow/grey/white/black scheme. Thanks for the idea (and all the excellent photos) H9!

I agree.... Too big and too expensive for mass markets to be able to afford. However one within the 75"-80" wing would probably be a HUGE Seller!!!!!

Keep in mind guys.. as you say "Too big and too expensive".. Radiocraft is selling their 123" span Extra 300L ARF as fast as they can make them.. at $2000 a piece..

Default clarification.

OK - I'll clarify. A 100" span bipe is too big for me to store, to transport or to fly out of our small airfield.

I'm sure it will be worth every penny of whatever H9 might eventually sell them for I just won't be one of the buyers.

Now a 1/4-scale version... different story altogether. Offer the bipe in that size and watch the boxes fly out the doors. (Use the DP Ultimate as a case study.)

As for the Radiocraft 300L example... they build those to-order and require a deposit. For them, 'potential' buyers are a rarity. Furthermore, not having an inventory of expensive built models sitting unsold in warehouses is a good thing.

I'd like a 65". Much more is more than I'd be willing to do.

I just sold my Goldberg, and was wishing for about two years now for an Ohio RC 65 incher... Brison 3.2... CRAP! Too late! I missed the boat again! I hope never to do anything bigger than that. I guess I'll look at a DP 120.

I agree with those who say "too big".
Scale it down a little for 80-100cc engines and I'd be interested. I'm sure allot of others would bee also.

Like a few of the others have stated, something for an 80cc to 100cc engine would be great. The plane you describe would be awesome, but most people out there would have a big problem trying to transport that size beast. I have the 1/3 Cap 232 and love it, so whoever is building H9's latest ARFs is doing a great job. How about offering some of these airframes in an ARC version? I think these would sell as well as the ARFs.

46%.....Sounds like an wonderful plane for someone else. It's just too darn big for me.

If they make one the right size for the new DA 50 I'm all over it.
If they make it the right size for an 80-100cc motor and I'd still be very likely to buy one.

If they make one so small that it's pushing it to hang a small gasser on the nose and I'll pass on that too.

I have a 1/3 scale H9 Cap. That's as big as I can handle.

Oh. I almost forgot. I just love the Yellow and White color scheme on Mike's model. I'd vote for a full ARF in that color if they make one my size.

Built it people will buy it. Look at all the people buying 40% planes. I would like to see it in a slightly smaller version as well. When I was at TOC, it seemed like everybody in the crowd watched when Chip flew his ultimate. I know that I watched just because it wasn't an extra.

Default oh-man!!

I was going to get the aero-works, but if you put this thing out... hummm. You guys better get this thing going fast I'm almost ready to buy!

What kind of price are we looking at for full blown ARF?

Also, How are you going to ship that thing? Heli it in, or will we have to pick it up?

If you can have a shipping date buy March 03 I'm in! Just don't tell my wife :boxing:

Later, Scott

At this size.. shipping will have to be by truck freight I think.. Not a problem though.. just not UPS. I THINK Mike said they were shooting for a $2000 retail price.. but I'm not sure on that..
