Forestroke - TD CAP II flies very nice, I think the Yak is about the same.

anywhere in the US selling the Twister cheap? only got $99.99 so far..
the UK's gone dry and to make it worth my while it'd have to be £60 inc shipping and the nazis at customs.
$99.99 makes it £53 for the plane, needs to be just a little bit lower to ease the customs blow.

it seems to me that some of you are putting too much power in these planes theres a reason why theyre rated for say a 40 .of course things are gonna break if you punish these planes by over powering them?.black horse planes have been going over here for some years now and they all seem good for the money!!.lets face it theyre half the price of some so theyre bound to suffer some quality problems!!.just stick to the right size engine and they,ll fly fine.
i think some are better than others in quallity ive seen two identicle kits but one was far better quallity!!,maybe one was a bad batch, maybe somebody had a heavy night on the razz?erm town to you yanks!!!.

Martno - there is no real quality issues with the SU31, CAP and Extra ... all those planes are very nice now since they started to make them laser cut. I ran my SU31 with a TT61 and it was not that great, the increase in wing loading was not worth it.

I am wondering if to buy a travel air or sport air, as a second model , but am not sure if it is worth it as the reports of poor wood quality.

I am interested in either the Sport air or Travel air as a second model, any advise would be useful. The Sport air is short in supply, any one no were they are available, not to expensive. My son does not know but it is my Birthday present.

Never seen a sport's air, but a Travel air will make a perfect second model.

Wood was good, build easy and flew great

Wood quality seems to be much improved. All the recent ones I have seen are nice and light and seem to be using balsa/lite ply, much of which is laser cut.

The only criticsm I have is that the firewall on some seem to be 2 laminations od 1/8 th lite ply and poorly glued. Fine for normal flight loads but will fail in an "arrival". An easy fix if poorly glued.

I have bought a Super Air after querying on this Forum, and advice of one modeller at our club, He is on his third. I enclose a picture of the nearly complete model. It will be completed after I get my TX back from Futaba. Apparently their 10 days estimate does not take into account Xmas holiday. I just forgot as I get no extra days off.

The model is available from model shops that stock Perkins stuff!

Well if you want to be picky,

Black Horse has only one distributer in the UK, this is Ripmax. Simple as.

I'm not trying to start a arguement, but there is no point in confusing everyone.

Any up to date feedback on the Sukhoi?

One thing is they now supply a metal tube for the wings rather than the wooden one in the manual.

I will adding CA to every hinge and have coated a thin layer of epoxy on the wood in the fuse for extra strength.

Bought one last week and throwing in an OS 46AX. Normally I like to read reviews on things before I buy but this was an impulse buy.

I have read both good and poor results. My guess is it depends on the pilot and how the plane is setup, which goes for any brand of model.

Roy - there is no need to add epoxy, the new laser cut planes are good. Much lighter than the old die cut ones! The plane handles well, the 46 AX will be fine on an 11x6 prop. She is a nice bird to fly but when you come in for landing, don't assume she will be slow, come in with a little speed, just a little more and not blazing hot. Its a very nice plane to fly around, give her more throw and see the roll rate, its good. The rudder has a lot of authority too. Stall turns are nice.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am about to buy a Dave Brown engine mount for it as it will make mounting a lot easier (as I was told)

This is my first glow plane build and our 2nd plane from a high wing trainer, but don't panic guys I fly electric warbirds around OK and wont fly it without my test pilot. Plus I plan on keeping the throws very low for the first few flights.

I wanted a plane that my son and I could grow with, my only concern was if the landings were too hot. If they are like our P47 then we should be fine.

BTW any thoughts on the flex cable type of pushrod by DuBro for the throttle link?

I have a Blackhorse Twister and very happy with it! Great next plane from a Trainer. I fitted an OS46la with a 11x7 prop gets it along nicely, no real vices. Nice to land. Only issues I have had with it was caused through my hard landing. Split the landing gear mounting ply and tore the fire wall out. Very easy fix and flying well again.........

Sounds like our Sky Raider Mach II. My son came down hard and did the same thing. I added epoxy for strength and a rubber strip under the LG wire for added shock absorption.

The idea of the rubber mount sounds a good one. I came in too hard and ended up on the nose and it plucked the firewall out of the fuselage. Glue gave way, the balsa/ply didnt break. Just epoxied back in and no problems.
