Don't know much about this manufacturer, but the plane looks a lot like a regular low-wing stick. My conversion flies almost exactly like the high wing.

I've never seen the low wing stick from Sportsman, but I have one of their Sonic 500's. I flew a few of Sportsmans planes before. They put out a good ARF for the price, IMO. The only problem I ever had with their planes is the amount of ironing I had to do on them.
For $80, get one and tell us what you think.

I have the regular ugly stik and it is heavy. If they just flipped the fused and wing, it too will be heavy. It did fly pretty darn good though. I had a Magnum .46 in the nose for a while and then an older Super Tigre .45. I then rearanged the motor mount to get a MAgnum .52. With that engine it was a VTO machine. If they have the same wing as the standard foam core wing, it is almost break proof. I had the aileron servo die at about 5 feet up and it did a fast roll into the ground. I crushed a wing tip and that was all. It is built like a tank so if you get in a mid air I feel sorry for the other guy.

RE: sportsman aviation sport stik 40 low wing
Sorry guys for not getting back to you sooner about this plane.this is my sons plane and he has been a little slow in getting it put together but I can tell you that it is now finished all but the stickers being put on it. so let me give you an update.out of the box the plane looked great the covering was good and the workman ship was very good you will not go wrong with this plane. the landing gear is a little weak but that is easy to fix. we got a few test flights on it last Friday and all went well and did not need much trim at all. we started out with a OS LA 40 and found out real quick that it just was not going to do it for this plane to low on power. so we put a webra speed 50 on it and the plane is now a ROCKET SHIP we did have to put a good bit of weight up front but with the webra it dose not matter I will post some pics as soon as I can.

you replied to a 14 month old post...
I have the Lucky Stick, which is the exact same plane but with a high-wing setup. I have the magnum .46 2-stroke and the plane screams with a 10x7 apc. all standard servos with a micro for throttle. took about 2.5 oz of lead in the nose to balance. i also took out the dihedral in the wing and converted it to a tail dragger. I love the plane, very agile and fun to fly.
