Got the plane finished today. Here was the last couple of steps. Mounted the battery, and the receiver, and also finished the tailwheel install.

Here's mine RTF 14lbs 4ozs. Not real happy with that weight, but without carbon I don't see anyway to get much more out of it. If I got more serious with the dremel I might get another oz or two, but they would be hard to get!

I also test ran the engine again. It runs good, and seems to spin up and pull fine. But it will sometimes start, and run backwards?? I've never had a gas engine to do that??

Now it's just a matter of range testing it, and flying her!

Might make it out tommorrow with it, and I might not too as I am supposed to have to work!

I am hoping to come in at 14 lbs, if possible. However, our setups (Capthis) will be almost identical as far as weight is concerned. I plan to take a dremel to roughly the same areas.

I look forward to flight reports you guys! I am waiting on my Brillelli 46GT I know Scott has his hands full with all of the "CHristmas" orders. Hopefully I will have mine ready to fly by the end of January.

I would like to see some more video, too, you guys. I will make sure and take some when I maiden mine, and I will post it here.

It's a little nose heavy as it sits. But I am going to fly it there, and se ehow it does. I can always change the CG by moving the battery back some.

I won't have any Video, but hopefully will have some pics of it 3Ding on the deck after a couple shakedown flights?

Capthis..no problem with this plane being nose heavy. Should fly great! Tail heavy or even balance is not good. I like your set up. Someone asked if their is interference with the fuse ribs using a pull pull. Yes, I did have a problem with the wires rubing near the hole outlets. Had to make some very difficult notches. Good clearance now. My 330 is about 10 months old, so maybe the mfg. made changes on newer models. Keep us posted1

No still haven't flown it. Doesn't look like this weekend is going to work either. Weather here has turned to crap. But it is winter! It's killing me a brand new virgin airplane sitting there not getting flown!

But I also just finished a seagul 63" Yak today so it needs to be test flown as well.

I have two planes sitting here now ready to test fly. I can't stand it. I just finished this Seagul Yak as well with a saito 1.25 on the nose.

Most gas engines you run with low ash oil such as lawn boy oil for the first 3-4 gallons and then switch to whatever synthetic you like. The engine will probabaly be a little on the rich side, but as long as it stay running and reliable, I would leave the needles alone till you get at least a gallon through it.

I haven't ever had a Brielli but have had (3) DA's, a 3W, (2) ZDZ 80's (2) Brison 3.2 a Brison 4.2 and some others!

Here is a couple more pics took this morning of the Extra, and the little yak.

Hey guys, I am getting real close to completeing my Extra 330.
List is as follows:
Fuji BT43EI-2
1 Fuji 4.8V 1400mah battery ( motor ).
APC 20 X 8
Great planes 3" aluminum spinner.
2 Futaba S3010 servos for the rudder.
2 Futaba S3010 for elevator.
4 Futaba S3004 in the wings ( 2 per side ).
1 Futaba S3004 for throttle.
Smartfly power expander.
2 Hobbico HydriMax 6.0V 1450mAh NiMH.
2 Cermark HD switch harness.
weight should be 15 -15 1/2lb.
The Fuji was a long motor and the back of the prop nut was about a inch from the cowl. I cut the firewall back 3/4" and dovetailed it back together. Still didn't make the spinner as close as I wanted, so I made ( on the lathe ) a prop mount/nut just like the Fujis, just a 1/4" shorter. The spinner fits perfectly to the cowl now.
It is a little heavier then I wanted, but this is my 1st large and 1st gas airplane.
I believe the Fuji should haul it around just fine, plus I live at sea level ( Atlantic city ) so it should be up on power a little bit. ( I hope, LOL )

Default RE: Carl Goldberg Extra 330 ARF

flew mine today. I only got one flight till the muffler broke right behind the weld, and most of it fell off the airplane. The plane seems to fly really well. It was really pretty windy today so not much 3D flight, but I did try out a bunch of other aerobatics, and it did them all really well. KE has just the slightest pull to the canopy, both ways. Rolls are awsome, and this plane will do a sweet rolling harrier. Hovering seems to be good, and the rudder is nuts on effectiveness.

I also tried several bank and yank type turns. It never snapped out, and I was pulling it around pretty good. I am sure it will snap at some point, (all planes will) but this thing will turn on a dime, and not bite you in the backside. I think once I get my muffler welded back up, and some more time on the airframe I am really gonna like the plane. Feels really light in the air.

Nice to hear of your success. Great plane! Sure you will have as much fun as I. My only problem is that the Saito 1.80 fs is adequate but can't go to the moon or torque roll. May get another 330 & put a DA50 up front. Having so much fun I hate to tempt the crash gods. Good luck!

Hey Guys, My Extra is coming along really nice. I just have a question about setting up my rudder. I have 2 servos in the back of the fuse that I was originally going to set up as a dual push pull along with a smart fly equalizer. Now I'm thinking that I may go with cables on the servos so that it's a dual pull pull. I was only thinking about doing this because it will be easier to set up, and it may eliminate the need for the equalizer. Does anyone think this will be ok?

I prefer a pull pull as I usually use a lighter engine which requires the servo in the center for a better CG. Either way is OK but if you are using a heavier ( 3 lb ) engone then suggest you use a push pull with the servos in the rear.

The servos are in the rear. I was thinking a dual pull pull with a servo on each side.

Never heard pf this set up but sounds OK to me. Without the sync I would say this would be very difficult. You may want to check with someone who has used this set up. Good luck!

Thanks for the flight report, capthis! Any in flight pics or videos?

My Extra is setting on the treadmill waiting for the Brillelli 46. I guess I should have ordered before everyone else instead of with everyone else around the holidays.

Several months ago someone from columbia had a 330 with a DA-50 & reported that it was awsome. Torque rolls, unlimited vertical, harriers & wall movements seemed a snap. Understand it was flown by a high profile expert. The weight sounds about right. Also know of a 330 with a Moki 2.10 as I recall in our club. Reports are good. Would not be afraid of either. Some other 50cc (prox) have also been used & if you look back a few months ther should be ample information. Good luck!

hii everybody im the one from columbia and yes i flew the extra like 3 months ago with a fuji 50cc (extremely heavy) and i think that im the only one that have done low 3d with this airplane, because of the heavy engine it has some bad habits like snaps and it didnt float anything..that was the way i crash it(in a dead stick) but im going to repair it with CNC laser cut new fuselaje and i will buy a brillelli 46cc.
for the ones that want the video here it goes. hope you like it...the one flying it is dave shulman but its my plane.
