after 9yrs or so of having this on the self i just finished putting it together. saito 100 apc14x8 hitec 635's stock retracts. most of this thread back in the day was about repacing the retracts. the old hanger9 wiggly ones always did the job for me. once in the air i don't care what brand they are. i remember that this bird can use alot of down elevator so i will be prepared to adjust. i did just reread some of the old thread and the coolest reading of all was that STICKBUILDER had one of these. YES, he had this ARF. very cool. i have always enjoyed reading what he has to say. the man has skills. to bad he is so shy. happy flying. capt

Managed to find one of these still in the box in a local Hobby shop. Now I need to decide what I want to put in it? I have the H9 60 series P-51 and Hellcat both electric and the Spitfire is about to get a Saito 100. Will probably wait and see how I like that in the Spit before I decide anything on the P-47. Capt1597 how did the Saito work out for you?

I have a Saito-115 in mine, which is actually a little shorter than the 100, only a bit of valve cover sticks out the side of the cowl. Nice power and fly ability.

Give er the typical ARF once over, re glueing accessible joints with c/a and reinforcing the firewall at the inside juncture with triangle stock or glass cloth and epoxy. Used eflight 60-120 electric retracts which needed the mounting rails widened with a dremell, but worked out nice. This is a Good Flying ARF, you'll enjoy it.

Hi Guys
very interesting read through the entire thread!

I am putting together a P47 as I type this. Got in as they discontinued it, been holding off and holding but each and every time I went in it was still sitting there so snapped it up.

As a matter of interest what did you guys use to hold the belly pan in place whilst the epoxy dried?

One more question the cowling what's the best way of getting the holes? A Dremel at a good guess, very close to nearing completion and can't wait to fly.

i went way different and ended up with the OS 65, only had my silver wings for a few months now so didn't want to go too crazy.

Cheers

No need mate, I've built mine from the box with one retract servo, still flying approx 13 years later. The plane is bullet proof! I've pulled the bulkhead out once due to a dead stick but just bellied it in.

Plus 1 to the last reply. Mine's about 10 years old at this point and the factory retracts have been flawless.

Default Saito100 question for this bird

The 4-stroke installation brackets have it mounted sideways. The header pokes out. Has anyone installed this vertical? I’d like to not cut out so much of the cowl. Any suggestions with the Saito1.00? Thanks.
