Default Ultra Stick Balance

Hello,

I just balanced my US 40 and it was nose heavy. What is the best way to attach weights to this plane?

Thanks.

Mine and many other's also came out nose heavy. The best way to add weight to the tail would to me make a hatch towards the tail and mount your battery pack back there. That way you won't add any unneeded weight. But if thats not an option you can get some stick on weights and remove a little of covering and epoxy the weight on were you need them. The farther back the better cause you will need less weight back there. I'v did this with many of my planes and never had a problem. Hope this helps!

cut a hole near the tail and move the elevator and/or rudder servos back is an other option.
I rear mounted both on my US40 to offset weight of a 60 size motor up front

In addition, you can replace the stock metal engine mount with a Fiberglass mount. That will lighten the nose up a bit.

Yep. Moving the battery and sticking weights on the tail both work. I had an OS 70 on mine and did both of those ideas at different times to get it to balance. Depending on your set up, you may even want to put a really small eye bolt in the center line of the wing right on the CG and suspend it from a cord to see if it stays level. You can then add some weight to a wing tip if it doesn't. Worked for me.

I agree with the shovel. Dead lead is no good. I just can't bring myself to do it. Push that battery back as far as you can. I build a little hatch to conceal the battery. That way, I don't use a charge jack. I pull the battery and bring it to the charger instead of the whole plane.
