Muffler is the stock G-26 unit (very restrictive but quiet)

Spinner nut from Tru-Turn.

I open the box the motor was in, and low and behold, I have a muffler.

I tried mounting the engine, but drilled a little high. I will work it out with a little help from Dick and the guys.
I'm new to gas engines and I'm having trouble.

Starting this monster will be like turning my lawn mower on it side and flipping it.

Thomas:

I used the Fuji on my Giant Stick with the Great Planes kill switch. I added an "L" bracket cut from 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/16 Aluminum to right side (looking from the rear) of the firewall. I made a cutout for the slide switch and mounted that. Then I cut a 1/4 inch hole lower in the bracket and through the firewall and mounted the micro-switch also on the outside with the "trip" facing the hole and about 1/8" away. Then I ran a piece of nyrod (actually I think I used a chunk of Lazer Rod) from a mini servo out the hole to trip the micro-switch from the transmitter. I just let the inner rod push against the micro-switch. Works just fine. I didn't want either switch inside the tank compartment.

Just what I did.

Well guys I thought I'd add my two cents worth to the mix. I've had my GP Giant Stick for a while but have had only a few flights. I need to do some carburetor work, engine was in storage to long.
I used an early Fox 2.4 gas engine. No additional nose weight needed. Did not set it up for flaps and don't regret it. It lands very well with out them.
It flies as advertised, just like a Stick.

I started to mount the G-26 and I ended up just setting it aside, afraid of messing it up. I will get aroound to it, once I think out how I want to mount it.

I'm getting 8000 on my G26 with a Zinger 16x8 and a stock muffler. Is that about right? I see your using an APC prop. What size is your APC prop. I have a 16x8 and a 16x10 APC. Maybe I'll try them. Is the stock muffler much quieter than the aftermarket units?
I'm flying an Ultra Stick lite with my G26 and want to move up to the GP Ugly Stick. Thanks Brian Smith.

Hey triangle ! Have you flown your GP Giant Stick yet ? Got my carburetor problems sorted out. Haven't checked the output of my 2.4, but with the 18x10 prop it goes up until I can't see it.

I'm going to increase a few of the recommended throw. Model won't snap very well, but it gets close. Need to shift the c/g back a bit as well. A real sweetheart on landing, could spoil a guy.

What size is the APC prop in this picture please Dick? Thanks Brian Smith

The majority of gas engines in use today have backplate mounts. The further you put the engine forward, the more tail weight you'll need to balance.

Here's mine with a G-26, which will hover this plane at 12.5 pounds.

Take off the restrictive stock muffler and replace it with a high flow type and unlimited veritcal may be possible

Just what makes you think that going from the Ultra Stick 1.20 Lite to the Giant Ugly Stik is a move UP? <G>

I have both kits (unassembled), a new G26 and a new Fuji 32BT. I am unbiased at this point.

I bleeve Dick was a pullin' your chain, Y'all.

My "RED" Big Stick is to arrive Wed. I was reading about the main LG was too far back when you make it a tail dragger? Any comments about that from Y'all? Is the nose tipping forward on the ground? Thanks Brian

I never cared much for tail draggers, so I installed the nose wheel bearing inside the tank compartment. It looks like it will work out OK. Many years ago we done the same thing with the original sticks.
I hope to mount the engine in a few days and get it into the air.
Tom
