I had thought about it before and the next time I need a new Stik I think I will build it as a low wing version. When I do I will post a few pics of the build online.

Could be a while though, it won't be until this one meets it's demise.

I'm VERY close to pulling the trigger n a GUS and will build it as a low wing.....I'll post the build if I do. Looking at low wing, cockpits and pilots, guns, DLE40 twin, cowling, vintage wheels, wire gear, stained plywood tail skid, flying wires, the works....Still trying to decide between that or the 1/4 scale D VIII short kit I have. One or the other up next....

If you have the time, get some pushrods and move the elevator and rudder servos into the area under the wing. It cuts down on about 3/4 lb of nose weight.

Thanks for the quick reply Super08,

will a pull pull for the rudder work better can any one sugest me one?

what about using the provided fuji engine mount to bring the engine a little more forward?

and what about the tailwheel? is it strong enough, doesnt the rudder suffer a lot with the one that comes in the box

If you look back in the thread someone did something like that. They used the supplied standoffs to mount a new firewall to the front further ahead and then mounted the engine to the new firewall. Good system as if you ever change engines down the road you just make a new firewall to mount to the standoffs.

I am having serious balance issues with mine and not sure what to do. I have an agm 30cc gas engine on this plane and still need about 2 pounds of weight on the front. Any suggestions or ideas?? Please.

Had a bigger engine on mine so I didn't have that problem on this plane (have with warbirds though), but with the 30 did you try longer stand offs and mounting the batteries and ignition unit to the firewall (outside/front)? I used two (or 4) adel clamps and some ply to "build" a platform between stand off legs in the past to mount ign/batteries even farther fwd on other builds, but that would work on the stick too.

Yes, any way to move the engine forward is good. Where are the servos on that bird? Any chance of moving them from mid section to the tail section? Two pounds seems excessive but thank goodness it's the giant!

Yes it is an easy mod to move the servos from the tail to under the wing. The servo rails are already there and the holes are in the bulkheads to run the push rod housings through. I moved my rudder servo when I built my last one and the next time I will move both of them. Even just moving the rudder servo removed about 10 ounces of nose weight. If I had moved both it would have been close to using no lead in the nose. That is with a DLE30 or DA35.

I had to add a good bit of weight even with the DLE40 Twin on the nose

I have a DLE40 twin on mine and I used 2" long motor spacers and a set of the dubro 600RV 6" big wheels. I did not have to add any nose weight. Was perfect. Those wheels are heavy. Also gives extra prop clearance.

I built the 50cc version a couple years back. Nice kits. I bought the 85-100 cc version a few months back as well as the rectangular rudder conversion that fits it. The kit itself is a box of wood that weighs about 44 pounds.
