No problem deco. That's good news you got hold of Fults. You will have fun with the giant stik; they are great aircraft, I love mine!!!

The manual will give he torque requirement for servos. Myself and friends have just found the Hitec 645's bulletproof in the Stick. You can go with which ever brand you prefer. If using a gas engine stay with a metal geared servo and be leery of using ca hinges and the included pushrods. They tend to fail from the vibration. If you go back in the thread there is lots of good info b

Any large scale flat hinges with a metal hinge pin are good as well as Robart hinge points. I have used both.

If I went with dubro hinges with brass pins, what would be the best glue for this. Thanks again

Most like to use epoxy. I use Gorilla glue which takes a little getting used to.

I need to fuel proof my firewall and I want to change the color of the firewall. What options are you guys using to fuel proof and apply some color to the firewall? I know many folks like epoxy thinned out with alcohol to fuel proof and use Monokote for the color. What about using LustreKote to fuel proof and paint? Other options?

cheers

The last time I used them on a Stik I used a mix of 3/16" and 1/8". There are places the 3/16" are a bit thick, like towards the ends of the ailerons. That is why this time around I used large HD flat nylon hinges I bought from SD Hobby. Or was that on my Super Sportster? I will look at my Stik in the morning and let you know. The more I think about it I think it has Robarts.

I like to put a coat of thin epoxy or CA on the firewall and then before it is fully cured apply a piece of color using trim sheet, not monokote or luster coat. The trim sheet color is really tough when applied to fresh CA or epoxy. After it cures a bit more you can cut necessary holes in the trim sheet with an exacto knife.

I just zoomed in on this picture. It does have the large flat hinges on it I bought from SD Hobbies. There are 3 on each aileron, flap, and rudder and 6 on the elevator. If you click on this picture and take it to full screen you should be able to see them.

That is how I do mine as well. I drill all my holes first, then seal with thinned epoxy. Then before it is rock hard I cover with Monokote. Here are two of my Stiks. One with a DLE55 and the other with a DLE30. My current one has a DA35 on it

How are you guys mounting the ignition systems? Velcro, double sided tape?

So I am going to be building my first stik. I must say I have enjoyed reading through all of the material in this thread. I am going to use a dle 40 cc twin and I am curious if you guys are using the stock tank or putting in a larger one. The stock tank is about 14 oz. is this sufficient for this engine

The stock tank will get you to New Jersey from where you are! Mine had a 44 twin and I never ran out of gas, and that was flying twice between fill ups and mostly full blast. You will be fine, unless you are making a drone to pick up some cheese steaks from Philly (man I do miss those, dont have 'em out west) just check between flights the first few times, but truthfully you can even drop down a size if you want. You are going to like this plane, esp. with the twin. It just looks cool (and "right" - you'll see what I mean once its on there).

As you may have seen in the pictures there is a place designed to fit the tank under the wing at the CG. There is no mention of this in the instructions though.

I have a 16oz in mine running an RCGF 40cc Twin, get two ten minute flights with fuel left in the tank but I fill before every flight...

Is a 6.2lb engine to heavy for the big stick? I'm building a plane for a 5 cyl radial and I would like to try the engine out on the big stick to work out any issues.
